The saga continues

I had hoped that the pathology report would come back from my surgery with clear margins.
It did - but it came back with more than I had expected. The original surgery was performed to excise tissue that was carcinoma in situ. Which is considered abnormalities of the squamous (or surface cells). When the pathology came back it included adenocarcinoma in situ which is an abnormality of the glandular cells. This type is known to cause "skip" lesions which means it has the chance to show up somewhere else without being continuous.
What's next? Don't know. I go back in March for a follow up but until then I just take every day as it comes. It is all I can do.

All you can do is take one day at a time luv. All they can do right now is watch it and hopes it just remains dormant. You on the other hand can keep doing what you are doing and eat healthy to battle this condition. A proven fact with a good immune system can battle cancer, no better way to do that then eat healthy, exercise and just enjoy your life. A patient of mine told me recently "It does not matter how many breaths you take in ones life , but how many times life takes your breath away" I think that can help all of us whether or not we have health issues but just to enjoy the beautiful world we are in and our family around us.Posted 02-27-2009 at 07:07 PM by paintedbliss

Thanks painted - I needed that quote!!!! I am still eating healthy. Should be able to get back on the treadmill now that I'm past my exercise restriction.
The biggest thing I've learned so far is that there is life outside my home office. I was a workaholic and had begun changing my mind set when I started South Beach. Needless to say getting slapped upside the head with the possibility of cancer does things to a persons perspective.
I hope to be able to return to the boards soon, but Ive been haunting other forums trying to get as much info as possible on any research that has been done for this type of diagnosis. There is not a whole lot out there so its challenging.Posted 02-28-2009 at 01:04 AM by luvbug412
