Mother May Lose Custody of Obese Boy

Social service officials will meet with family members Tuesday to discuss the health of Connor McCreaddie, who weighs more than three times the average for his age.

"The worst case would be Connor getting taken into care. He is well cared for," the boy's mother, Nicola McKeown, told ITV television.

A spokeswoman for health officials in Wallsend, North Tyneside, 300 miles north of London, said the hearing was part of a process that could eventually lead to Connor being taken into protective care. She declined to comment further.

The health agencies organizing the meeting said they "have been working with the family over a prolonged period of time and will continue to do so."

Officials would not say whether Connor suffered from a medical condition that led to his obesity, citing privacy issues.

sad luvs real sad.... I just seen a show Dr.Phil,,,(not a fan btw) but it was about overweight kids.... a boy 6/7 years of age weighing in over 170 lbs...terrible... the father took custody of him after the show...omg what a change...the boy is running around like any other 8/9 nine year old.... the father put him on a strict diet...made him exercise but also made it so fun for him that kid just wanted to do it....I blame the parents they are to lazy to care enough about there kids so they fill them up with junk..to shut them up...

..but thats not always the case either...I also seen this medical show where these over weight kids could not tell when they were full or had enough.to eat...I forget now the name of the...they just ate and ate and ate and never felt full...can you imagine that....they are put into a hospital and taught what are the right amounts of food they should be eaten....
