| Here's more evidence that it may not be not just the number of calories that matter. It may also be WHAT we are eating... General Summary: 2 groups monkeys, 6 year study. Each group of monkeys had same diet, except one group had trans fats (like in American fast foods & snack foods) and one group had monounsaturated oils (like olive oil). Both groups had only the number of calories expected to maintain weight. Group eating trans fats... Had more weight gain That extra weight went to their abdominal area Other body fat also redistributed to abdominal area http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releas...-tfl060506.php (Excess fat in abdominal area means more dangerous fat around vital internal abdominal organs. This is now believed to increase risk of diabetes and heart disease.) Last edited by nancy; 06-17-2006 at 09:58 AM. | ||||||||||
