Default Yogurt Cheese

Has anyone made yogurt cheese? I am tryin this out...drained the whey from the yogurt in a mesh strainer with some cheese cloth too ( http://www.dannon.com/pdf/yogurtCheese.pdf ), so it is now like soft cream cheese. Added some salt, garlic powder, chopped green onions, and a few chopped green olives. It is in the fridge 'melding' together now. Will put it on celery for a snack. I wish I had some flax crackers to put it on! That recipe sounds great.

I was thinking adding a dry pack of sf jello to the yogurt cheese would be good too! Like strawberry flavored yogurt cheese on a legal bagel! The possibilities are endless sweet or savory.

I'll let you know how my concoction turned out!

HAPPY EASTER - HE IS RISEN!

It's very tangy like yogurt! The green onions were kinda strong (they made my eyes water when I cut them!) so they tasted a bit soapy and the green olives I think have been in the fridge for way too long. So bummer on the ingrediants but the base is good! I would like to try blending fruit & splenda or cool whip with the yogurt cheese on a really good bagel or bread.

I've been meaning to try that, Tammy! Deblynn makes yocheese. She started a thread about it a few weeks ago.

I bought the strainer, but I still haven't gotten around to buying the yogurt. I still have regular cream cheese left right now. I'll try to remember to buy some plain yogurt next time I go shopping. I need some starter so I can make some home made yogurt anyway.
