| Chinese Braised Chicken (P1) 1 cup chopped onions 1 (3-lb) chicken, whole or cut-up 1 cup water 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce 2 TB chopped fresh ginger 2 TB Splenda 1 clove garlic, crushed Salt and pepper, to taste Chinese Relish: 1 cup finely chopped green onions 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1 TB grated fresh ginger 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil 1 TB rice-wine vinegar, or sherry Salt and pepper, to taste Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish Directions: Place onions in slow-cooker; add chicken. (If using whole chicken, place breast side down) In a small bowl combine water, soy sauce, ginger, Splenda and garlic; pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Chinese relish: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with chicken, and top with sesame seeds. | ||||||||||
