| Hi, We just got a new treadmill and I'm walking 2 miles a day (which is great for me as I've lived a very sedentary lifestyle) but I have to hold on to the handle bars. If I don't, I feel like I'm falling over and I walk weird (like I'm drunk). My husband doesn't have to hold onto anything and walks perfectly well. So what's wrong with me? | ||||||||||

| Dont worry about it ... It is just your balance. Your balance will improve as your do more treadmill. Balance is basically a mix of a nuerological signal sent from your ear - brain - muscles and the stregnth of muscles to quickly hold and counter to keep stability. Most of the time you can improve your balance by working on specific muscles. In this case as you walk on the treadmill eventually you will build the muscles that will help you readjust your weight while walking. I would suggest holding on and going slower ... adjust the incline to keep your heart beat at 80% If your balance does not get better I would check with a doctor as it could have something to do with inner ear or neurological issues ... but I would bet you will get much better soon. | ||||||||||

| I WOULD worry about it and go straight to your doctor. Do you have an update? I hope everything is OK. :Hug2:
