I haven't really exercised since I started the diet almost 2 weeks ago and yeah i've lost weight on phase1 but I heard if you exercise you'll loose more? I have a gazelle at home that I can use if i have motivation to use it but I usually don't so it just sits in the corner. Or would lifting weights be better help me out! Thanks jamie

| Actually doing Both WOuld be the Best there is a lot of Benifits from both Cardio and also weights. Start out slow don't get all gung ho and then Burn out try and do it so that you like doing it. So many dive into a workout regime with great intentions and then crash and burn cause of Bordum and Burnout. If you can start out with every other day doing something that's great then from there you can move up to 5 days a week. If you want to change it up you can do cario one day weights the next. Any type of exercise is gunna benefit your body. If you need any help getting started I am happy to help. Most of all YOU can do it, just get on and start going you will most likely not really wanna do it the first while but, with consistancey it becomes a habit and then you just can't miss a day. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/exercise/256-can-somebody-help-me-excersising.html Sarah

| Yeah, what exerciseangel said. I am an old lady and it took a long time for me to get in the exercise habit. You might want to vary the exercise that you do. I started by getting the Walk Away the Pounds tape, and worked up to 4 miles, but I was so bored with hearing the same voice over and over again, I started to turn down the volumn and listen to music, but the music was never in sinc with the workout. Now, I do water arobics 3 times a week and get out and walk on the other days. The water arobic class has us lifting weights (filled bleach bottles) streatching and doing a lot of caridio also

I have a lot of injuries I've collected along the way in my 44 years and can't do the level of excercising I used to. Sarah and Lynne are right. Start slow, find something you like and try to be consistent. Eventually you will work your way up to a harder routine once you are comfortable! Glad you're thinking about it and reaching out:joy:

| Dear Jamie, I really understand where you're coming from about exercise. Getting started is the big challenge. When I first started exercising my body felt so heavy, like it was filled with lead. Doing exercise seemed like the most boring, undesirable thing to do. It just felt so unnatural. (It is STILL a challenge for me to get started almost every day & in many ways I still hate it.) But if you do it regularly for awhile, you'll intuitively know how good it is & it won't be such an effort. I've just learned what a wonderful difference it makes. There's lots of reasons why everyone recommends it. Some more thoughts: It might feel like its one of the hardest things to do when you're just starting. Just do SOMETHING anyway. Your body doesn't have to ache all over. Don't overdo it in the beginning. If you need to, just start with 10 or 15 minutes & then do more if you want. In the beginning, it's enough to just do SOMETHING. Don't worry too much about your heart rate or breaking a sweat if you're just starting. Do it regularly & consistently. I know it works for lots of people to have rest days, but for me it comes so much easier if I just do SOMETHING every day & make it a habit, like brushing my teeth. I need to just let myself get used to the new habit. Just do whatever works for YOU & whatever you'll keep up. Ideas you might want to try: Watch a tape of a favorite tv show while you exercise at home. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=256 Borrow an exercise tape from the library. It's easier if you hear peppy music & see other people exercising too. Try a good beginning yoga tape. It's not cardio, but it really works to strengthen the muscles as well as all the other benefits you'll feel after awhile. | ||||||||||

| The Leslie Sansone walking tapes are a good place to start. I don't think they feel very threatening. They are doable at any stage. Now I've progressed from there but I still use these tapes if I don't feel up to the task or have just gotten over being sick or want a lighter work out day. I hope you try something. You'll feel better for it. The mental block of not wanting to IS the hardest part. Harder than actual exercising! Wait to you see how good you will sleep after making an effort to move your body!! Good luck! | ||||||||||
