Default yourself!fitness

are there any other y!f groupies on here?

i started doing yourself!fitness (a game console / pc-based workout program) in may of 2005. i adore it! i lost about 15lbs just following a workout program with that over 6 months or so. can't complain about that.

however, my schedule has gotten a bit messed up, so i haven't worked out in a while. i think that, once i finish phase I, i'm going to get back into it.

I've never heard of it before. Is it anything like Dance Dance Revolution?

nope. it's an actual, customized workout program. you do an assessment at the beginning and then you schedule your workouts. there are ones that focus on cardio, weight loss, upper body, core, lower body, and flexibility. it's fabulous because the (computer-generated) instructor asks you how you felt about different sections of the workouts and adjusts your future workouts to take that into account. plus, you can use certain props (a step, weights, a ball, a heart-rate monitor), too!

I have it but only used it a couple of times, I really should start again, i had a hard time figuring out how to customize it..mine always seemed to give me an aerobics workout..i was more interested in pilates. I found the aeorbics workout too repetitive, and i don't have enough room by my tv for it. Do you have any tips?

well, i think that, depending on your long-term focus (which you choose during your first assessment and any physical challenge), each workout could start out the same way. i was on weight loss for a while and then cardio, and it always warmed me up and then did some cardio. after that, it would go into weight training or yoga-type stuff. there's a lot of pilates-type stuff in the core workouts (which are my favorite).

i think that, if you choose core as your long-term focus, you should get a lot of ab work (and pilates) in every workout.

hope that helps!
