Default Abs, Stomach, the Middle section

So I have this really weird question. The middle section of our body some we call the stomach or abs is a problem spot for a lot of people I believe. So Im doing the crunch's and situps to shrink that area. I noticed though that with the dieting and with the situps the area is getting smaller and the love handles are still handles but the pinch is not so big.

My issue is this. When I look down at my mid section i noticed that i have like 2 pouches kind of split between the upper and lower half. The lower half seems to not fill out so much. The upper half totally looks like im carrying a pouch. How in the world can I be looking like this. How or what other exercise can I do to get the upper have to shrink down more. Im not sure why this is. Does anyone get what im trying to explain LOL!!!

Funky!!!

I would say that you just need to continue doing what you're doing. We lose weight in different areas and at different rates. Keep exercising, burnng fat and building muscle. Eventually you'll lose weight in the stomach area. And if it doesn't happen, then maybe you're just genetically predisposed to having fat in that area. Even some Olympic athletes and body builders can have little pockets of fat.

Here's an article that might answer some of your questions about spot reducing in areas.

Quote:
Spot reduction is simply the idea that if you work a specific muscle group you will decrease the amount of fat in that area. The most common example of this is people focus on abdominal exercises in an effort to lose weight in their stomach area.

In reality, there is no such thing as spot reduction. You will never attain a flat stomach just by performing abdominal exercises. The reason for this is simple: a muscle does not own the fat that surrounds it. Sit-ups, for example, will definitely strengthen your abdominal muscles, but sit-ups alone will not get rid of the layer of fat that is covering the muscles. To lose fat anywhere on your body you need to burn calories by following a program that involves both cardiovascular training and weight training. In doing so, you will decrease fat stores throughout your entire body, including the problem areas.

You may notice that you sometimes lose fat in some areas more quickly than in others; this is simply due to a genetic selective pattern rather than a particular type of exercise. It is a well known fact that men tend to gain weight in their abdominal region, whereas women tend to gain weight in their gluteal region. If fat was mobilized, or used from the stores near the exercising muscle, then you would expect both men and women to lose weight in the same areas when following a similar program. However, losing weight in the gluteal region is much more difficult for women than it is for men. http://www.truestarhealth.com/member...11ML3P1A2.html
