Wow, I'm sorry to hear you were not feeling well Sarah. I had a pretty miserable 12 miler this past Saturday myself. My bad run was due to diet... I made the stupid (very stupid) mistake of eating a large steak and some peanuts the night before around 10pm. The next morning I started my run at 7am (had eggs & cheese for breakfast) and voila! I experienced major stomach cramps among other unpleasant things. I know - you're thinking "what was she thinking?". Well, I was following the Atkins diet. No good. Well, since then I got some good advice from another ex-Atkins dieter now on SB (my mother who runs 1 marathon every 3 weeks) so here I am. Hoping that my next long run in preperation for a marathon in October goes better.

Currently, I run 3 times a week. 5 or 6 miles twice during the week days & one long run on the weekend. I am slowly increasing mileage (currently up to 12 miles) until I can do the full 26.2 miles.

Default Running

Hello, new to southbeach and new "again" to running, just wanted to say hello. First of all, how do you guys run over 10 miles in one run! I think I would die! I mean I was saying today to my husband that I think we could do 5 if we pushed ourselves, were doing about 2.5-3 miles in the AM 5 times a week, but 10 is ALOT! Good jobs guys! Maybe I'll work up to it.

Anyways, my question. I have been running 2.5-3 miles 5x week for about 3 weeks now. (Not NEW to running, just havent been doing it regularly for probably 6 mos.) I feel great and I am sure I have lost inches... but I feel like i need to be doing more... should I try and do more or is this a good amount of exercise? I am 135 at 5'6, pretty muscular build, but definitly have some fat I want to rid myself of.... thats why im southbeaching and running! I dont wanna give up...maybe I should work out harder... I also do weights 1-2 times a week...all I can do with time. Any input or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
