| Help... My regular exercise is great for me. I really don't have time to add more, but when I've tried Pilates, it seemed the best for my abs. My abs are very poochy. Crunches don't seem to be enough. How could I add a very short Pilates for my abs? How often do I need to do it? Could you tell me the movements to do? Any other advice about my weak abs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. | ||||||||||

| As far as abs go nothing is going to make the fat go away from your abs except for diet. You really don't even have to work your abs that much cause you use them for everything sitting up straight, running, biking, walking everything you do you use your abs. The only way to get lean abs is by eating healthy and sometimes it's the last place you loose it depending on your body type. For me im lucky cause that is the first place i loose fat when I loose, but my but and hips hold onto it like glue, it's so hard to get it off that area for me, I have to eat 1300 calories a day and workout 6 days a week in order to have my butt and hips the size i want them, it's hard work, but it's sooooooooo worth it. So just keep eating healty and working out like you have been and you will see your abs eventually. Don't give up on the healthy eating that is 80% of what you look like!! ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/exercise/889-abs-pilates.html Good luck!! | ||||||||||

| Nancy I'm exactly like you. I've actually never had a really flat stomach even when i was thin..for me it's heriditary. Brownies right you can't spot reduce, but i do believe that having strong abs does help hold your stomach 'in' . the flattest mine have been was last year when i was running and regularily doing pilates. I'm running again, but it's not helping as much so i started my pilates again today. I use the Mari winsor 20 min workout and one by Ana Caban as well..they're both pretty similar (i just hate mari winsors voice sometimes LOL) I just found this online demo and beginners exercises. these are the ones that are all included in both of my pilates videos. I just read recently too..that the pilates '100' is one of the best exercises you can do: ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=889 http://beauty.expertvillage.com/interviews/pilates.htm | ||||||||||

| Thanks for that Pilates web site. Haven't been able to get the visual, only the audio, so far. My extra weight sticks mainly around abs and butt and hips and thighs. I know my abs will never be flat. But I can tell my ab muscles are weak. And when I've done even one session of Pilates my abs have gotten much firmer. Now that I'm doing yoga, my core is stronger, so I'm not as afraid of hurting my back with Pilates. Because of time, I need to find a quick way to do the Pilates. How often do you have to do Pilates to maintain your ab muscles? Would it work to just do just one certain exercise? | ||||||||||
