| hello, i started phase 1 today and i was wondering if i could get any opinions on how much weight ill lose. i know the book says 8-13 but i was wondering if someone couls give me their own estimate considering my current weight, and my activity level. i have a movie audition in september and i want to look nice and toned. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/exercise/989-just-wondering-how-much-ill-lose-phase-1-a.html im 5'6 and 134. i want to lose 20 pounds before september. i started phase one today. im going to run for 20 minutes inthe morning 3 to 4 times a week, 40 minutes of pilates 2 times a week, and then 30 minutes of additional aerboics (besides running) 3 to 4 times a week. plus i have hip hop on sundays for an hour. i will be adding in toning excersises (pilates, toning dvds, and toning excersises from magazines) as well so i have muscle. given that information can anyone tell me how much weight i should lose on phase 1 for 2 weeks? | ||||||||||

| Sorry, I can't help you. 3 to 8 pounds the first 2 weeks is really awesome. We are all different but anything is doable. Weight lifting is a great body toner. Welcome, glad you found us and joined

| You're 5'6" and you want to weigh 114! :OMG: The movie industry is a tough place, isn't it? I think I'd rather play the chubby but lovable side kick! Anyway, the SBD is not a quick fix and I wouldn't count on losing 8-13 pounds on phase one. You'll just be setting yourself up for disappointment, imo. But you seem determined and you will be working out a lot, so I won't say that you absolutely can't do it. I just can't say how much you'll lose in phase one. It's different for each person. | |||||||||||

| Hi, Looosin. I agree with the others. It's better not to set yourself up for dissapointment. The purpose of Phase 1 is actually to get rid of cravings, not to lose weight. That part of the book can be misleading. People who lose that much in Phase 1 often have at least 100 pounds to lose or their foods have been very un-wholesome foods. It sounds like the weight you want to lose is mostly cosmetic, not medically needed. So your loss would probably be slower. | ||||||||||

| I would guess you will loose about 3-5lbs depending on your eating habbits before you started the diet. People that have little to loose meaning 20lbs or less will loose it alot slower. I am 5'4" and was weighing 128.5 I lost 3lbs in the first couple of days and then didn't loose anymore in Phase 1 it's been 2 weeks sense I have weighed myself but I know im probably back down to 120 by the way my clothes are fitting but im not weighing in until Saturday. You loose most of your weight in Phase II a good healthy weight loss is 3-4lbs a month, so if you stick to SB by the book you should probably be pretty close to your goal by September. | Sorry to sound Harsh but, 5'6 and 114 pounds seems way on the LOW side to me even by Doctors standards. There is no way in knowing how you will react to this WOE some lose fast some slow but if you ahve been a YO YOer or been on and off diet plans then you most likely won't have as quick of results. SB is not a Quick fix it's a life plan it's something that you need to commit to. Sarah

| I kind of agree. 114 is boney. I think you should weigh no less than 120 or so.But it's a free country, so good luck. | ||||||||||
