Default low carb links

I have a question. South Beach is NOT considered a low carb diet. It's about eating healthy carbs in healthy portions. In fact Dr. A would (and has) take offense to the South Beach Diet being referred to as low carb diet, yet I see several links to low carb sites. We don't look at the carbs on a label, we go by the gram weight at the top of the nutrition facts label. A grain serving is 30g. Just curious. Reason?

You bring up valid points.
However I would believe that it is still classified as a low carb diet.
I know that it is not as low as say atkins but it is still much lower than the average diet.

I looked on wikipedia and they seemed to list it under:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-car..._diet#See_also

Tom,

I've gotta say something here. I feel really strongly about this. In my opinion, SBD is NOT a low carb diet, despite the misconceptions.

By those standards, Weight Watchers would be a low carb diet. It has less carbs than the average diet. With SBD, each individual finds out for himself what amount of carbs works for him.

Wikipedia lists SBD here as a reference, just as it does the word, "Diet". They don't say it is low carb. (By the way, Wikipedia does have erroneous information sometimes.)

I feel so strongly about this because there are so many fad diets out there that confuse people & mess them up. IMO, all these fads keep many people from controlling their weight and being healthy. I don't want SBD lumped in with those fads. (I struggled with my weight most of my life trying out these diets.)

I would say SBD is a healthy, well-balanced diet that uses unrefined, unprocessed carbs and oils, as well as lean proteins.

Boy Nancy...you hit the nail right on the head IMO with this statement. I agree with your viewpoint to the "T"!

Hi Tom,

Sorry I didn't see your post before.

Who am I to judge? It seems that Atkins has worked long-term for lots of folks. It didn't work for me.

I'm realizing more that different things work for different people. Different things work for each individual person at different times.

Just MHO.
