| I have no idea what a "thread" is. I just joined this forum a few days ago and am not very computer savvy. But, from what I've been reading...this is one "group" I really want to be a part of. I've read the SB book twice and started taking it seriously March 1st. I started the end of Feb. but was not real strict. Since the last week in Feb till now I've gone from 221 lbs to 209 as of this morning. I'm feeling a little stuck, but maybe I'm just being hard on myself. I've been stuck at 209 for about 4 or 5 days. I'm afraid to leave the "safety" of Phase 1, but I still have the occassional glass (or two) or red wine. I've never cut that out altogether. But, honestly...NO bread at all. I'm a little unclear on some other things. On Phase 1, can you eat pinto beans, lima beans, black beans? I thought they were high in carbs?? Also, on Phase 1, can I eat yogurt? I haven't been. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/1810-daisy2.html Anyway....I really need all you and any support you can offer. I hope I do this "thread" thing right and get "contact" with some of you!!! Geeze...I suck at computers! Really counting on you fellow SB dieters. This is a diet I can live with. My first goal is 189lbs. I would be so happy to get down to that weight. Then, ideally, if I stopped at 160 I'd be thrilled. I'm 40 and am about 5'6 1/2". Congratulations to all of you fellow SB'ers and your success. Looking forward to hearing from ANYONE....SOMEONE!!!! | ||||||||||

| WECLOME WELCOME!...finally got some time to post. A "thread" is what you just started here...like your own little 'post' so to say...people respond to them like I am doing now. I started my own "thread" under the journal section of this board and I reply to myself every day that I can... lol ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1810 You did great on starting your first step at further support! We are all here for the same thing and by golly, we're all we've got sometimes! Anything you need, just ask... Beans...stick to these and watch your serving size is all: BEANS/LEGUMES (Start with 1/3 - 1/2 cup serving) Adzuki Beans Black Beans Black-eyed peas Broad Beans Butter Beans Cannellini Beans Chickpeas or Garbanzo Edamame Great Northern Beans Italian Beans Kidney Beans Lentils Lima Beans Mung Beans Navy Beans Pigeon Peas Pinto Beans Soy Beans Split Peas White Beans Yogurt... MILK/DAIRY (2 cups allowed daily, including low-fat or nonfat plain yogurt) I found some Dannon Light & Fit Carb&Sugar control yogurt...it only has 3 carbs & 2 g. sugar...one of the best I've found and it actually tastes pretty good too. I think that was all your questions..? Hope I've been helpful. | |||||||||||

| :Welcome: to the beach.... I cannot answer your question about the beans (sorry)..As they would never be in my menu...ewwwwww(kidding) .. But I can offer a little advice that may or may not speed up your weigh loss...First things first..Phase one was made for us to lose not only weight but sugar cravings...Once your sugar craving has gone, it would be in your very best intrest to move up to phase two.... start introducing more foods into your diet...You will find yourself at a stand still if your not moving on... I dont mean go out and eat a loaf of bread or anything but take baby steps into it.... for example you have been bread free for what almost three weeks now...add one slice of whole wheat with your lunch.make that one slice your way of working yourself back into eating right..then the next day maybe something else that you havent been eating...make a small very tiny adjustment for the time being...I hope this helps ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1810 AGAIN WELCOME TO THE BEACH YOU SAVVY THREAD WRITER.. | okay...now that that's all set up! whew! i know the goal weight seems high. i guess i felt it would be too discouraging or daunting to see a lower one, like 150 lbs., which is what it should be. after 3 wks. i blew it yesterday. i don't know... i feel bad, but i was getting so down on myself about being stuck at 209 that i just had a "hell with it all" attitude yesterday. i ate chips and salsa at a mexican restaurant for lunch along with a taco. then a friend of mine gave me a box of girl scout cookies and i ate several last night. weighed myself this morning and i'd gained 2lbs. but, TODAY'S A NEW DAY! i'm getting my hair done tomorrow. it's getting warmer out. i'm starting phase 1 all over again. this morning i had some sharp cheddar cheese for breakfast (i was in a hurry). for lunch i just ate a salad with mushrooms, black forrest ham and some chicken (left over from some chicken breasts I'd cooked in olive oil the night before). i started a new job exactly a month ago. i have a court date scheduled next monday which has me totally stressed and i'm still having a hard time with a divorce i've recently been thru (after 21) yrs. of marriage. i've got to stick with SB for my sanity. thanks for the help so many have already offered through this forum! you are all a source of great strength and encouragement to me! hope everyone is having a great start to their spring! i live in ohio where we had that record flooding last august. winter has been awful. i'm so ready for spring!!! i'm a native michigander though. i had to move here for work but feel like a fish out of water still. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1810 thanks everyone!!! | ||||||||||

| Okay...I'm doing posting this as a reminder to "me"...because i have lost my mind! as of today, i'm going to start weighing myself only Fridays. so, as of today...i weigh 211 lbs. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1810 any help or advice on the phase 1 part of this program would be greatly welcomed. i have been on it, as i've said, for about 3 wks. and have lost about 12 lbs., but i've never cut out the red wine totally. also...i was under the impression that you could basically eat all the cheese and meat you wanted?? any helpful hints there?? should the cheese be under 6 grams of fat? if i want to eat 3 or 4 eggs in the morning...is that allowable? what about pepperoni or ham (as long as it's not honey glazed or sugar cured). in the SB book there was one story in there about a man who never did give up his bowl of ice cream every night and he still lost weight. i guess that's been my excuse to indulge in the red wine every couple days or so. okay guys...give it to me straight!!! I'M STARTING FRESH TODAY AND AM LOOKING FOR HELP HELP HELP!!! | ||||||||||
