| I did the south beach diet 2 yrs ago and lost over 50lbs. Got derailed and put all the weight on plus some. Need suggestions on how to get started again I am in dire straits. My doctor told me that it wouldn't work again. I believe it can | ||||||||||

| This is my 3rd go round at SBD...lost 100 lbs, (forgot phase 3) & gained about 58 back, lost 15, gained 25 & have now (3rd time's a charm) past all my previous weight loss goals...I've almost achieved my final goal...I'm so close I can taste it...every time I have seriously applied myself to this diet, I have lost. No question about that in my mind, tell your doctor he's crazy...lol. It's all about sticking to the allowed foods list...even if you eat too much of that stuff, it's still better than how you are eating now and you will lose wieght! Stick to the allowed foods for the phase your on. My first suggestion on how to start is to clean out your kitchen...get rid of anything that's not on the diet. I know many people who have started the diet without cleaning out the bad stuff (cause they don't wanna throw it away and waste it all).....well, bad idea...if the stuff is around, you will munch/nibble and binge yourself when the urge strikes you...which it does the frist couple of days on phase 1. Once you get past that though, it's so easy! No more cravings, no more munchies...that's what phase 1 is all about and if you have that stuff in your kitchen on about day 2 or 3 of phase 1???...well, let's just say you'll probably have to start over cause you wanted to have just 1 of those cookies and it turned into 12...you get my drift...take away the bad stuff so it's not available...that's my first bit of advise. Second suggestion...if your still hungry on phase 1, please...eat something else! Have an extra cheese stick, have some extra nuts...anything. The biggest advise I have for the diet (I preach about all the time) is eating something every 3 hours...NO MATTER WHAT!!! If you don't eat every 3 hours, your body actually stores fat...Not what we want...eat every 3 hours and your blood sugar level will stay steady, allowing your body to bun it's already stored fat....that's how this diet works. Many new people think if they eat less, they will lose more...not gonna happen. I keep a bag of nuts & a SBD snack bar in my desk drawer in case I ever miss lunch or forget to pack a snack...Don't starve yourself or your just going to end up storing all the fat you consume in your next meal, simple as that.
