I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I am getting ready to start SBD and am very excited! I am getting ready to spend a week visiting family out of town and have decided to start full force with my husband once I get back. In the meantime, I have re-read the book, been collecting recipes, and reading the postings on the message board. Until I "offically" start I have been making much smarter choices about what I have been eating. I have no intention of going hog wild and putting on more weight between now and then!

Anyhow, a little bit about my story. A year or so ago my husband went to the doctor and he suggested that he go on the SBD. His blood tests have been normal, but he is on high blood pressure meds. We got the book, read it, and then did absolutely nothing about it. Then, the tables were turned on me. In December I decided to start getting healthy so I quit smoking and went to have a physical done. My cholesterol and triglycerides came back borderline high at the time. The doctor wanted to see me back again to have them rechecked in July. This time, my triglycerides are 550. Our doctor again said that the SBD would be the best option for the both of us. So...here I am! I guess before I never had the real motivation to do it because I have never had a real weight problem. But, after gaining 10lbs. from quitting smoking and reading the book I realize that I do have a problem since my excess pounds are all in my middle!

I am really excited about adopting this lifestyle change and to start living a healthy life!

SB eating can do really amazing things with those tri-g levels. Mine started at 330 and are in the 80s now. And congrats on quitting smoking as well. FWIW, I think those that approach it from a health perspective have better motivations to stay with it as a lifestyle approach than those who simply approach it from a weight loss perspective. Not that the two aren't interrelated, because they are, but when you are trying to avoid going type II diabetic or avoid lifetime medications, I just think it is a bit easier perhaps to weigh your choices against those alternatives and choose long term health over the short term gratification of off plan treats.
