| Hi, my name is Kelly. I recently was doing SBD on the south beach website. I did well the first two weeks and then nothing for awhile. I tend to get very frustrated easily as I have a lot to lose, 115 pounds, and I feel with so much to lose it is way to early to stall. Anyhow, I am very carb sensitive so I am not sure if starting in P2 caused me to stall. I am trying to see if I can do some type of combination of Atkins and SBD which is how I found this site. Maybe keep it more Atkins in the beginning since I have so much to lose but incorporate the SBD ideas of leaner cuts and more veggies??? I am not altogether sure and I would welcome any guidance or opinions on this. thanks. Kelly | ||||||||||

| What kind of transition process are you employing? Early P2 should look a lot like P1 with one added serving of either whole grains/starchy veggies or a fruit in the first week, 1 serving of each in the 2nd week and so forth. And it's very common to stall or gain as you transition. Like the rapid loss in P1, most of it is simply water weight from replenishing your glycogen stores. While I understand the need and desire to see positive feedback from the scale, it's ultimately a red herring. If you are committed to changing your diet as lifestyle change then temporary plateaus and day to day variations, which are completely normal and inevitable, are just part of the program. Ultimately it is usually consistency and longevity that win out in the end. And not that you wanted feedback, but I'd do one plan or the other. If you are carb sensitive, maybe try to do a "light" P2 with 1 fruit and 1 grain/starchy veggie for awhile and avoid all flour based grain products and see how that works. Early P2 is largely an experimentation phase to find what works best for you and involves a lot of trial and error, which really does mean "errors" and finding things that don't work to help point you to things that do. Often our expectations are our own worst enemy. Practice non-attachment to the numbers on the scale and focus on the positives of eating healthily and taking control of your food choices! | |||||||||||

| Hi Kelly, I am new here also but not so new to SBD. I used it a while back now and it worked fairly well but have decided it is time to start again properly. I have decided that Monday is the day. It is quite daunting though. Being at this end of losing weight and thinking 'how am I going to lose that much?!' is quite scary in a way. How long was it that nothing happened for you on P2?
