| What brought you to south beach? My hubby and I were both on it about two years ago and did great with the weight loss and felt great. How long have you been doing it? Just started back on it the first of the year, so been about 6 weeks this time. What do you like about the diet? I like the way I feel now eating healthier, and feel much better and more energetic. What is difficult about the diet? Trying to find enough variety of things to cook and also have for snacks/lunch for my hubby to take to work ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2-my-name-tom.html Do you exercise? Yes, I have a treadmill inside and waiting for warm enough weather so I can get outside and walk with the pups. How much weight do you have to lose? I would like to lose about 10 pounds and my hubbys goal is to lose 30 and maintain it. Do you have an recipes to share with us? Not any right now, that is what I desperately need. | ||||||||||

| Hello Donna! I'm so glad to have someone who has done this plan before. May I ask what do you think caused you and your husband to not make this way of eating a lifestyle change? I noticed that you wrote that your husband would like to lose 30 pounds and maintain the loss. I assume that he drifted away from the plan and gained some weight back? That seems to happen quite often. I saw this statement somewhere and copied it down. I'm sorry, but I can't remember where I found it. Weight loss and maintaining that loss is an never ending battle for many people. It's very important to make this a lifestyle change and I think this plan is something that can be done for the rest of my life. Quote:
I'm glad to have you here. Let's support each other along our journey. | |||||||||||

| Hi, my name is Nancy. Thanks for your bulletin board. I've already gotten alot from it in just a few days. Can anyone tell me of a quick guide to using bulletin boards & the lingo? This is my first. I'll answer Tom's questions from the Sticky... I've dieted most of my life & it never worked. With SBD, I finally feel in control of my eating & my weight. It's wonderful. Having the control has changed my life in different ways. I highly recommend it for anyone! For almost 2 years. I did go off it for 7 months & gained back 8 of the 28 lbs I'd lost. I figured out what I did wrong that led to the relapse & am careful not to repeat the same mistakes. That's another thing that's changed. In the past, I would have given up after a setback. Now I'm maintaining a 30 lb wt loss from my beginning high although I've had many ups & downs. I've gotten to really enjoy the wholesome food. Subscribing to the web site really helped me understand how to do it all. I love how nutritionally balanced this diet is & how easy it is to make it part of my lifestyle. I believe I'll keep eating this way & exercising for the rest of my life. I don't feel hungry, craving, & deprived all the time. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2 It's difficult when I'm staying away from home with friends or relatives & also when I'm on-the-run. I need to make the time to prepare ahead & bring healthy foods with me. I've learned that I HAVE to exercise to lose or to maintain my new weight. Persistent exercise is the key. Some days getting started is like pulling teeth. Usually I really don't want to. But I know now that exercise is SO beneficial in so many ways. Maybe about 3 pounds more. Mostly I need to up my exercise & tone my body more. Recipe: I made this recipe up myself. It gives me a quick chocolate fix for the day. Of course, it can be altered as one chooses & it doesn't have to be chocolate. Lately, I've found the chocolate extract at Whole Foods. It's expensive, but it gives a yummy chocolate flavor. Nancy's Chocolate Smoothie 1 cup yogurt 1 cup soy milk 2 TBSP cocoa powder 1/3 cup Splenda 1 tsp vanilla 2 tsp chocolate extract Mix & blend. Enjoy! | Nancy, I read this after you told us that you had posted here. Sorry I missed it earlier. I feel we are similar in a lot of ways. I am also a persistent cuss and I guess that is what has made me stick to this diet or any other I've been on. I even stuck to Atkins for 2 years after it quit working for me, LOLL!!! But now that I'm committed to SB all the way, my metabolism is finally getting on track. I'm very glad to have met all of the wonderful people on this board. Some I've known for a while, but others are new acquaintences. I like the sound of the smoothie recipe and am going to try that. Thanks. | ||||||||||

| Hello, My name is Baby, and I am new to this forum! I am tired to be overweight, and I have decided to do something about it. I got the SB diet book, and I am reading it at this time. It looks, like with the support of the book, my family and this forum, I would be able to achieve some weight loss and to change the way I eat. I am 5.8 and 217.0 pounds. I don't think that I was ever huge, yet, I was never a small little thing... As I get older, I start to realize that my methabolism is getting slower and it takes me 10 x more to accomplish some small weight loss... ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2 I am not consistant with my food choices and I don't like to talk about diets.. I do beleve that I need to change the way I think because overeating is part of the psychological problems, even some people would not believe in it... Anyway, I would like to have some support from everyone in this forum, and to learn more from members that lost weight on SB WOL. :sun: Thanks for having me here! Love, Babe. | ||||||||||

| Welcome Babe! You've come to the right place. Read all the stickies under all the forums (they are at the top), and if you'd like, you can join the squeaky clean Phase 1 challenge. It's not a high-pressure thing. Phase 1'ers just check in daily to see how it's going for them and we all encourage you to keep on track (which isn't so hard to do anyway)! Glad you made a decision to get healthier. Are you going out this weekend to stock your pantry and fridge with SB friendly foods? | ||||||||||

| Hi Babe :Welcome: This will probably be the right plan for you. I've eaten for emotional reasons most of my life. By following the SBD over the past 2 years I've learned to change the way I think, at least to some extent. Since this plan gives me control over my eating, I feel more in control of everything. P.S. I also have slowww metabolism. But it works anyway! :cloud: Keep in touch, OK? | ||||||||||

| Hello...I'm Tami. I'm currenlty following Atkins. I've had a lot of success with it, however, it's slowed way down even though I've been following it and exercising. I'm researching SB because of it's similarities to Atkins, but the lower fat content may be what I need. I've lost 75lbs with Atkins and want to lose another 30 or so. Took me a while to start Atkins because I research everything I do. I'm sure this won't be any different. Any advice from those who have done Atkins and switched to SB would be appreciated. | ||||||||||
