What brought you to south beach? Desperation!! No, I am still nursing a baby and I wanted to diet safely - SB seems to include the important food groups and keep me healthy while losing weight safely!

How long have you been doing it? Ummm, 4 days!

What do you like about the diet? Bacon!! And the fact that there are lots of modifications to include foods you enjoy.

What is difficult about the diet? No sugar! And the no alcohol in Phase 1 - I like a glass of wine now and then or a beer, and those are out right now!

Do you exercise? OH YEAH! I do triathlons, so I run, bike, swim, and I love to rollerblade! Usually I am pushing or pulling 50 pound of kid too!

How much weight do you have to lose? Now, only about 5 pounds!

Do you have an recipes to share with us? I don't really cook, but I do like to make this: 1lb lean ground beef, 1 can black beans, 1/2 can red enchilada sauce - roll it in a romaine leaf!! YUMMY!

What brought you to south beach? My doctor said this or Weight Watchers and I know with my insulin issues (PCOS) this was healthiest for me.

How long have you been doing it? Started 06/27/06 and extended Phase 1 because I have such a long journey.
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2-my-name-tom.html

What do you like about the diet?
Getting my appetite under control.
Getting off the carb craving rollercoaster.
The simplicity although in the beginning I thought to complicated (thank good for menu outline and allowed for list).
Ricotta cheese, nuts and string cheese.

What is difficult about the diet?
It's costly - can we get that fixed :jester:.
Llived on carbs with little to no meat /vegetable and diet full of food I didnt desire (well I like nuts and cheese LOL). Shockingly, lack of carbs is NOT a problem.
Afraid of handling eating out is and I havent yet.

Do you exercise? No. My weight limits me to minimal standing and walking. As the weight drops, I will press my mobility for walking (I can do about 25 steps without rest). Eventually will graduate to recumbant stationary bike. Right now exercise is shopping with help of grocery cart.

How much weight do you have to lose? I dont know my weight - if I had to guess, I would say 150-200 lbs., but hopefully about 75 will get me mobile.

Do you have an recipes to share with us? Cook very little but pass along ideas when I have them.

Default Hi from Bree

What brought you to south beach?
Well, I turned 25 and all of the sudden my metabolism seemed to stop cold! I didn't change my eating habits at all and next thing I knew I had gone from 117lbs to 131lbs. I am now 27 and want to get back to my "normal" weight before this gets out of control. I also want to be slim, fit and set in healthy eating habits before I get pregnant (hopefully in the next 3-4 years) so that I don't blow up when it happens. I'm trying to think ahead here!
I decided to do south beach because I really wanted to detox my body of all the sugar and carbs that I usually consume. i am a major craving person - i crave carbs and baked goods and sugar and they hit hard! Then I end of binging to the point of feeling ill. So I am hoping this curbs the cravings and that eventually i won't feel like i NEED a dozen chocolate chip cookies or a loaf of banana bread.

Today is day 12 of Phase One for me.

What do you like about the diet?
See above re: ridding my body of sugar/carbs. I like the idea of eating only whole grains, and lots of veggies and fruit - these foods have so many health benefits, besides just weight loss. I want to live a long, healthy life.

What is difficult about the diet?
It is difficult in social situations, and I hate the taste of sugar substitutes, as well as the fact they they may be very bad for you. I'd like to think that eventually when I reached my goal weight I can eat natural sweeteners VERY moderately but enough to satisfy me, and maintain my weight and overall health.

Do you exercise?
I am on and off with an exercise routine. When I get into one, I love it. Right now I am doing cardio 2-3 times a week for about 45 mins. When school starts in Sept. I'll have access to to a new gorgeous gym and I plan to go 4-5 times a week and do cardio and strength training. i am really looking forward to this.

How much weight do you have to lose?
About 14-16 pounds.

Do you have an recipes to share with us?
I love making cabbage soup - it's filling and healthy and yummy!

1/2 head of cabbage, chopped up
2 medium onions, diced
2 stalks celery, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 can no sugar added tomato sauce
1 can diced tomatoes
6-10 cups beef broth, depending on how much cabbage you use and how brothy you want it
salt and pepper
dash (or 2!) red pepper - i like it kinda spicy!
Throw all ingredients in a big soup/sauce pan, slowly bring to a simmer, simmer for at least 3 hours (the longer, the tastier)
Enjoy!

I relate! And it's so great to know now how to curb those cravings!! It's like a whole new life for me.

Thanks for the cabbage soup recipe. Sometimes I just LOVE cooked cabbage!

How much weight do you have to lose? Total about 60 lbs. I've lost 41+ so far

Do you have any recipes to share with us? I've tried too many new things to think what I would post here. I will share some recipes at some point.
I wrote a lengthy introduction post, but maybe I yammered on too much and it wasn't allowed... or at least I don't see it. That was too much work to do over. (yeaaa... found my posts... guess there was just a slight delay)

'What brought you to south beach? I've been doing Atkins for awhile and I'm a ADBB member but was worried about the high fats and was in a bit of a stall. A friend of mine was very successful on SB so I thought I'd give it a try.

How long have you been doing it? I started 4/23/07

What do you like about the diet? Well so far (phase 1) I don't like much LOL. I mean, you've taken away all the pepperoni and stuff I could have on Atkins even during induction but I'll get the hang of it. Induction wasn't the most fun either but then after I got going it was great. I'm sure I'll feel the same way about SB once I get through phase I.

What is difficult about the diet? Well, so far my pants are falling off me. It's only been a few days so that's good but it's difficult to walk when your pants are falling down LOL

Do you exercise? I walk a mile each morning and a mile each evening. I'm kicking it up a step on Sunday and will be doing 1.5 twice a day.

How much weight do you have to lose? I'd like to loose 125 lbs but it seems like an impossible task sometimes.

Do you have any recipes to share with us?

SB Peanut Butter Cup

1 no sugar added fudgsicle
2 Tbsp peanut butter
2 Tbsp light frozen whipped topping or whipping cream

Directions:

Take a no sugar added fudgsicle and scrape it off the stick (microwaving it for about 15 secs helps). Add 1-2 Tbsp of peanut butter and 1-2 Tbsp of light frozen whipped toppping or whipping cream. Mix together and enjoy.

Lazyman's Chocolate Mousse

1 pkg Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding
Sugar Free whipped topping

Directions:

Put a couple Tbsp of sugar free whipped topping in a bowl. Pour in some sugar free chocolate pudding mix right from the pkg (do not mix with milk). Stir. If you want it more chocolatey, add more puddig mix.

To make a big batch - I've used one pkg of pudding mix in one regular size tub of sugar free cool whip and it came out just chocolatey enough.

Very easy and you can make it to taste. You can also put it in the freezer and eat it like ice cream. Should definitely take care of your sweet tooth.

:OMG: That SBD Peanut Butter Cup sounds AWESOME!

Thanks...and welcome. You sound like you got the hang of it. Isn't it amazing how quickly you can see results on phase 1? That's what keeps me going everyday!
