| Hi, all. Just introducing myself quickly as I am new to this forum but not entirely new to South Beach. I am a happily married wife and mother of 3 (2 boys and 1 girl) living in Maryland. I actually bought the South Beach diet book and cookbook years ago but never really did anything with the information. Somehow I did manage to get down to about 137 on my own for my brother-in-laws wedding about 3 1/2 years ago but in those 3 1/2 years since have managed to gain back all that I had lost and am now sitting at about 156.5 lbs. (This is 1.5 lbs. down from Tuesday of this week when I started watching my diet again - started on Phase 2 - I had done Phase 1 before and saw absolutely no results in terms of weight loss and got very frustrated. I didn't start to see results until Phase 2 so figured that was a good place to start and have as I said lost 1.5 lbs this week so far.) My parents (who are in their late 50s) have both followed South Beach and are still following it. They both started in January 2008 and as of May my father had lost 50 lbs. and my mom has lost to date approximately 17 I think. As important is the fact that by losing the weight my dad has he is now off of all medications - cholesterol and high BP! I am so proud of him and thrilled that he has lost this weight. My mom too is starting to see the Dr. start to lower and even take her off of some of her meds as well. So, here I am once again working on getting my eating under control and will start back at the gym at the end of this month when the kids are back in school. I took the summer off and am feeling the effects of that as well! I was averaging about 4 days/week and have gone from that to nothing and it shows in how I look, how my clothes fit and how I feel. So, looking forward to getting back to that as well. I am aiming for losing about 1.25 lbs. per week so I should be at my goal weight by Christmas when I plan on taking advantage of after Christmas sales! lol I am here for moral support and motivation! I am sure I will find it here and I look forward to shedding this baggage! | ||||||||||

| wow....what a great story about your parents...thanks for sharing...what great role models they are and I'm sure they're VERY supportive...which is great!....we're all here for a bit of that ourselves...so if you need anything, we're here for ya too!
