| My name is Cass, I am 22 about to turn 23. I started SBD on Wednesday. I come here for support and to have people to lean on when the "lifestyle change" gets rough. I will not disclose my weight, nor weigh myself because I want to avoid getting discouraged. I have a goal, size wise, I am currently between a 16 and 18 in womens, my goal is to get down to a 12. I don't want to be skinny, I just want to be where I was in highschool. I've always been overweight, but it just hit me the past few months how unhealthy I've been. My fiance and I have been trying to get pregnant since November, with no luck. I am afraid that I am pre diabetic, also I am at great risk for heart disease. My mom's side of the family My grandma grandpa my mother aunt and 3 out of 5 of my uncles are diabetic. On my fathers side, My grandpa was always lean and fit, and had to have 2 triple bypasses, my father suffered heart attacks at the age of 40. I realized all of this when my mother told me she was prediabetic. The doctor told her she can reverse, or control it with the SBD, and that it's proven to do just that. She read the book, and recommended I did as well. I read the book and automatically was convinced, I have a strong feeling that I am prediabetic, if not diabetic, and also because I am at great risk for heart problems, I was totally sure this was for me and i was ready to do it. I am 5'3 and round. I LOVE bread, more than chocolate, and I love chocolate, but bread, so fluffy and the taste of it, i absolutly adore it, and crave it all the time. I carry most my weight in my stomach, it is not attractive. I was in the grocery store the other day and caught a glimps of myself i the reflection of a frozen food isle door, and it LOOKED like I was pregnant, about 20 months pregnant. I decided now is the time. My fiance eats fast food 3 meals a day, and you know when you live with someone you have the tendency to be comfortable and eat the same. I broke down on Monday night, cried, and told him I have to put my foot down, if we want to have children we have to change the way we eat, me espically. I am so sick of being sick when I eat something that is not natural, my body cannot take it anymore. I am on a very tight budget, but have found clever ways so far to accomidate my diet. Lots of veggies, I made myself the broiled flank steak, and that will last me 3 more nights, also I made myself stuffed chicken breast with ricotta cheese (fat free) ( and replacing my dessert) garlic mushrooms, tomatoes, and tomato sauce over it. That was delish and I have one I have frozen for a later day. I feel great today is day 4, I woke up hungry yesterday, but not today. The first to days weren't hard at all. My body feels like its working properly, I've been sleeping better, I'm "regular". Its something I don't think I have ever felt. I'm really excited about this, I could care less if i was a size 2 or if i didn't meet my goal by a certain date, I want to have a baby, and I want to be healthy, I want to be able to control myself when there is cookies and cakes and sourdough around (btdubz, my SO made cookies last night and i was repulsed by the smell, like my scent could tell that my body has detoxed from sugar). I want to be alive when my children's children have babies. I want to grow old and be healthy, thats why I started. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2052-hey-yall.html Cass PS. | Welcome as well!! A few quick thoughts... Sounds like you are doing this for all the right reasons and with great motivators. I think it's sometimes a bit easier when you get the big picture of long term health and chronic disease avoidance instead of the micro view of the number on a scale. (which drives everyone crazy anyway!) BTW, when you do have kids, it's much easier to bring them up eating healthy foods than trying to get them to switch later. There is nothing about SB eating that the whole family doesn't benefit from. Kids just have some special needs that need a bit of adjusting for, but the basics are great for EVERYONE! ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2052 Ever been tested for PCOS? weight issues and difficulty TTC seem to be common among those with PCOS. just a thought. Homemade chili with SB friendly ingredients is a great budget meal for all phases! Most of all, just enjoy the journey!! It can be a grand adventure with the right attitude! | Cass, First of all...welcome! Second....I love your attitude...it's perfect! You have decided to make a lifestyle change...sometimes it takes that "broke down and cried" day to make you see the light, but once you do...You will accomplish what you want. You sound determined...and that's all it takes. It's great to have you here and I hope you share your progress, as I know it will be great! Welcome and if you need anything, we're here for ya! | |||||||||||
