Default Hello from Maine

Hi my name is Nicole. I am new to South beach. I am the mother to 3 wonderful children ages 9,6, and 2. I am currently a stay at home mom which is the hardest job in the whole entire world. I am going to be starting college next week in a Medical Assisting program. I have always had a weight problem since I was a child but it didnt really get bad until I started having kids. I used to work at Curves and I got down to 200 lbs. which was really a big deal to me. I felt great at that weight like I could do anything and then I got pregnant with my 3rd child. It all went downhill from there. He just turned 2 in June and I am now weighing in at 275 lbs. I am very unhappy with my weight and really need to do something before it gets too late. I bought the newest South beach book and dvd so I have to knowledge and the tools. I just need some guidance when it comes to cravings and stressful situations. I am a stress eater and that is my biggest downfall. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I look forward to many more postings where you will see my weight loss journey.

Hello! I am new also to the diet and the boards - started last Thursday and so far it's going great. I have found the best way to stave off those cravings is to do as suggested and eat those snacks. Actually, I have been amazed by how eating a few celery sticks and an ounce of cheese helps me to ignore the "goodies" in my cabinets. Good luck w/the diet and w/going back to school.

:Welcome:you are in the right place. always great suggestions and lots of motivation here. You have the tools, here is a great support network. I know it can be somewhat overwhelming. My suggestions is to write down everything you eat. You find yourself eating less so that you won't have to write it down.

Thank you for the great welcome. I really appreciate it. I know its going to be a tough road but I really do feel that I can do this. I will take all the suggestions you all gave me and put them to good use. I have printed off the food list for phase 1 and stuck it right on the front of my refrigerator. I am going to make sure I pack some healthy snacks for the ride to and from school so that I wont be tempted to pull in and get fast food.

Hi Nicole! I completely understand about being a SAHM and gaining weight with subsequent pregnancies. I am trying to lose about 75 lbs after the birth of my third child. Good luck! I know we can do this!

Thank you mythreesons for the encouraging words. It has been really tough finding the time for myself but now that school is back in session I know that I can find the time and make it work. If you find any good recipes or snack ideas I would love to hear about them. I am always trying to find a variety instead of eating the same things every day. I wish you good luck as well.
