| Hi from the land of the Philly cheesesteak.... I'm new to the forums and the diet; and a little nervous about starting the whole food-style change thing. I have terrible eating habits, don't exercise, work to much, drink too much coffee and smoke...and it's all changing starting this week!! So any and all support is greatly appreciated I've already read the book twice, done a little research and we're in the process of cleaning out the fridge--so I'll go shopping tomorrow for all the right foods. I do better if junk food isn't even around at all. My problem with meals is going to be my work schedule. I work swing shifts and about an hour from home. Meal times are whenever you have a few minutes to sit and eat. There have been days at work that if i eat on the way in (during commute) I don't get another chance to eat something until the way home--and of course I'm starving and eat everything I can get my hands on. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2121-hello-pa.html Oh, and day 4 of the nicotene patch!! feil | ||||||||||

| :Welcome:Welcome to the beach as they call it here! I just joined last month so I know how you feel because I never joined a forum before - I still don't know what the heck I'm doing half of the time. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2121 It's sounds like you are starting a lot of positive changes at the same time and I give you credit. I am an ex-smoker myself (it's been 10 months so far) and I have done the patch and then the gum and had to go cold turkey off the damn gum but I'm finally nicotine free after almost 25 years and it is well worth it! I have never exercised either, but I needed something to help me w/the withdrawal from the nicotine so I got on our treadmill and have been doing it every day since the end of July and I love it! As far as you being able to eat I cannot stress how important that is. Just reading about that in this forum has made an impact on me. I know it's difficult for you to eat lunch but what I'm thinking is that you make sure you have packed yourself lots of SB friendly snacks to eat on the way to work, at work if possible and on the way home. Things like cheese cubes and fresh cut veggies (celery, green peppers, etc.) Those might be easy to grab and munch on if you truly don't have time and at least it would be better than the alternative. I'm sure some more experienced "beachers" will come up with some good ideas for you. Good luck w/the not smoking and with the diet. All I can say about both is that they're well worth the effort! | ||||||||||
