| Hello everyone.....so I'm here like everyone else....to loose weight and change my eating habits. As long as I can remember I've been overweight. I think the closest I've ever been to a so called 'normal' weight was back in 87 which at that time I weighed 165...and even then my wedding dress was a whopping size 20!!! Looking back I WISHED I would have taken control of my weight then instead of letting it get to the point it is now. I haven't weight myself in a few weeks but that last time I stepped on a scale I was at 250. I'm almost 42 years old and sometimes I feel like I'm 80. I get out of breath walking up and down stairs.....my knees hurt which I'm sure is because of all the extra weight I have to carry. I've been on so so many 'diets' and the most I have ever lost at one time was 35lbs but that soon came back and more. I'm currently engaged to a wonderful man who loves me just as I am but I would LOVE to be able to walk down the aisle in a beautiful wedding gown....instead of a 'tent' like the first time......and of course there's my kids.....I want to be there for them for years and years to come and I want to be able to be more active and play with them and not be the parent who sits on the bench at the park too exhausted to do anything. So with the help of my family, co workers, and this website I'm going to do it this time. My office of 9....me included have decided to do our own versions of 'The Biggest Loser'......we're starting after we get back from the Christmas holidays....Jan 5. Sadly, I'm the heaviest of them all.......8 of us will be competing....the 9th our boss who is a guy is a bean poll so he won't be 'playing' with us but the rest of us....the women...will. We all are putting in 25 dollars in the 'pot' and after 6 months (or maybe 5) the person with the most percentage of weight loss will be the winner. Anyway.....I need to do a lot more research on the SB diet and get organized in order to start this.....I'm hoping to be ready to go next week.....I think if I'm more prepared and plan my meals....exercise routine....I hope to do well.....and the fact that I'm going to have to weigh myself in front of my co workers who will then know exactly how much I weigh should surely be motivation as well to loose instead of gain..........Okay I'm so rambling now..... ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2296-newbie.html Wish me luck............offer advice........be tough on me when I start complaining 'it's too hard'..........be the support I need!!! ~Cinnamon~ | ||||||||||

| Welcome Cinnamon! I just want you to know you came to the right place for support. South beach will make you feel so much better in the long run whether you have 10lb or 100lbs. I can attest to the fact that it does work(this is my second time around) and so many old- timers on here can tell you, you can do this plan now and forever. Remember this is not a diet, this is a healthful plan I like to think of as "getting your life back". My advice get the book and read it over the holidays, most libraries carry it but you can also buy it on amazon.com for a very reasonable price. I would get the most recent version which is "The south beach diet supercharged". A few things have changed and I think this version makes things very clear. Congrats on becoming engaged and this plan will get you to where you want to be. Your children will thank you for it, nothing is a better gift than giving your children and fiance a healthy energetic wife and mother. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=2296 By the way we have a challenge going on weekly feel free to join, no pressures. It's just a way a few of us decided to become more accountable to ourselves and each other. I will be starting a new one dec 31(our current ends dec 31.) and they last for about 8 weeks. There are no material prizes just weight loss and good health. You can join at any time. | |||||||||||

| Okay.....I officially started my new 'lifestyle' today. I'm going to call it that rather than a 'diet' and maybe I'll have better luck....silly I know but I'm ready to do anything at this point. So I weighed this morning and the horrible scale put me at 246. Which is actually about 20lbs lighter than I was this past summer so that's something..... I'm taking this one day at a time so please wish me luck my fellow weightloss friends ![]() | ||||||||||

| Good luck to you Cinnamon67. This is a fantastic lifestyle. I commend you for using that term. It is truly more than a diet, and anyone who only thinks of it as a diet is destined to fail. For the change you are really after, it must become a change in lifestyle. Post often, share your successes and your struggles. This board can be the support network most of us need for success, but only you can ensure that. May you have incredible success! | ||||||||||
