Default hi - new and needing some SBD friends!

hi - my name is Joy. I just started yesterday and realized I ate too many nuts! Ugh, I ended up eating 2 servings instead of 1. Peanut butter is dangerous too. That's kind of like a treat for me so I really need to control my triggers.
The eating is easy, love plenty of meat and veggies, I just don't know how I will do on the weekends when I tend to eat whatever I want.

Hi joy, glad to have you here. South beach eating does not happen overnight, it has to be learned and planned. We've all made that mistake of over eating especially with nuts and still do. The best thing to do is to plan your day including snacks especially on the weekends when you might be more tempted to indulge.

Welcome Joy! This is a great place to hang out with others of a like lifestyle. Don't be too hard on yourself about the nuts. Just learn from it and move forward. Also, be sure you are eating natural peanut butter, not the typical stuff. The natural is so much better anyhow.

Default Nuts!

:Welcome: Joy! I can relate to this post with regard to the nuts. Although it sounds to me like you did not intentionally eat two servings, but realized after the fact that you'd mis-counted/measured. I, on the other hand, knew yesterday that I was eating more than what is suggested. I was just being rebelious, I guess. It seems nuts do that to me sometimes. I just "go nuts"! (Maybe there is a reason for that expression that has nothing to do with SB or any eating plan at all, hmmm?...)

Anyway, it's not the first time I've overdone on nuts and probably won't be the last. But, I figure as long as I am not into the sugar and flour stuff, I am way better off. A whole cup of nuts is better than getting into the ice cream or cookies. Today I will just get right back on track and eat what I normally eat. It might affect the scale a bit for me, so I'll need to keep that in mind next Monday, but otherwise, I plan to just forget about it. If I notice it happening a lot, I might have to exclude nuts from my plan, but I'm not going to do anything drastic like that until I have more experience with it.

:OMG: I'm actually acting rationally about all this! When did that happen? My point is, (I guess), that this is a healing way of eating, physically and emotionally.

Good luck to you, Joy. Glad you are here!

Wink Nuts, nut butters, all about nuts!

I JUST had my 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter and I must say, it's my favorite snack. I would have it 2 times a day if I could, but I know it's because of the fat content that I can't.
Can we do the different kind of nut butters like almond butter or hazelnut butter? Almond butter is a bit lower in fat I believe. I buy the Maranatha brand found in the natural section of stores, but sometimes it's in the peanut butter section as well.
I guess I would rather eat a cup of nuts too rather than a few cookies. But controlling the nut intake is going to be a hard one for me.
I just started. It's just my 3rd day but my mid section is already shrinking. Haven't been hungry at all so I am liking this!

Any nut butter is fine as long as it's the natural stuff (no sugar or salt added). I love almond butter! I had celery and peanut butter this morning for my snack. It was great! And, I was satisfied with the 2 T. allotment today. Good thing! Phew! I don't want to have to take it away from myself.

HI Joy and welcome! Don't beat yourself up over the nuts! As Jilly Bean said, it is better to overdo on the nuts than ice cream or cookies. My husband and I have done the same--intentionally--because it is better that than induce sugar cravings.
As for the weekend...do not let yourself eat whatever you want. You may end up in a place you don't want to be! Remember, failure to plan is planning to fail! So girl, make a plan...lay in the food...cook a little extra or ahead for rewarming and you will be oh, SO FINE!

Default nut problem

I think I turned my sugar addiction into a nut problem now. I had 2 T of natural peanut butter for my snack...then I was supposed to get into the gym...but I just had another 2 T of peanut butter because I was hungry again.
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/2376-hi-new-needing-some-sbd-friends.html

I can't even pack nuts because I swear I will eat them all. I just started a circuit training program at the gym, this is my 4th day and I am so sore I can barely move. With being on the SBD AND jump starting the workout regimen, my pants are actually loose today.

I am trying not to be so hard on myself but there goes the fat intake for the day. Curses!

I have chicken and green beans that I brought for my lunch, thank goodness that's a good meal.

I better get in the gym quick and get some extra cardio in today, huh?

I hate how guilty I feel right now. I guess I have to be happy that I didn't eat cookies.

sigh.

I would stop feeling guilty. Overeating on nuts in P1 is not the worst thing in the world! And fats/oils are different than nuts/seeds. You still should get in your good fats at your major meals regardless of your nut consumption. As you note, it's better to overeat on P1 foods than to go for the cookies and the non-P1 foods. Good fats and nuts at least provide satiety and healthful properties!

I see no need to "punish" yourself for what you are eating which is what I read into the "extra cardio" comments. Try practicing more self-compassion. This is a process. It takes time and no one does it perfectly. You'll be fine!

Be happy that you are alive and learning new life skills and that you can go to a gym and move that amazing vessel you call your body!! Keep up the good work and moving forward!!
