Default New to SBD

Hi
My name is Vanessa and I just started the SBD on Monday 04/27/09 for the first time. So far this doesn't seem like a bad way to start losing the extra 20lbs that have clung onto my body for some time now. I haven't found myself having too much difficulty giving up the "white stuff" just yet. I've been going to the gym for months now so to step up the cardio was just another added challenge to my workouts. I'm hoping this forum will keep me motivated with all your added input and I love to read all success stories. Hopefully I will have one to post soon.

well welcome!! yes this is a great place with wonderful people. so glad to hear your working out. too many time, people use food solely to modify weight. what's cool about SB is that it is not a diet per se, or to put it another way everyone is on a diet, as a diet is what you eat yes? lol...

i am so enjoying the food, back to eating the way i always in the back of my mind knew i was supposed to be eating.

fruits, veggies, lean meats..the fish i should have been eating..haha...going to the Farmers Market on the weekends and stuff...love it.

make sure you have the book, there is a great chapter on how to eat out...so you dont have to feel awkward when going out to eat...

oh and the chapter its not what you eat but how you eat it is awesome.

20 pounds huh? funny thing, the less weight you have to lose the more difficult. if you needed to lose like 50 or something you would see 10 pounds go in a couple of weeks or so most likely. for me, the last 10 pounds or so is just a nightmare..lol...so i am adding in much more exercise as well.

well let us know if we can be of service to you.

Your right on the more difficult when it's less weight to lose. I've been fighting with these 20lbs for about a year.
I've read the book which a friend of mine let me borrow for awhile. She's on the SBD and was the one that referred me to do it. She's had much luck so I heard about it first but then had to learn the nitty gritty of it by reading the book and then finding this forum. I've got a lot of reading to do on here and with everyone's posts about their success and what typically has worked for them, I'm hoping that by trial and error I'll find what works for me.
I've taken to eating healthy not just to lose these last stubborn pounds but to also live longer. Heart disease runs in my family and the triple bypass heart surgery my father had 2 years ago was an eye opener for me.

I'm sure all your advise and help and support will help me achieve my life goal.

Welcome to the board - I wish you the best success in your efforts to lose the 20 pounds. As you will read often, think of this as a lifestyle change and you will have success. If you think of it as a diet, you will likely wrestle with the 20 pounds the rest of your life. Glad to have you on board!
