Iksonak is on a distinguished road
Thumbs up Trying my 50th diet!!

I am iksonak from Illinois. I have been on WW, Jenny Craig, Diet Center, Nutrisystem, WW X 10 times, tried Atkins, and nothing works for the long term. I get skinny, get cocky, think I've got it licked, and then, whoops, I'm back fighting a lot of pounds. So, think I shall try this and I'll win this time! Need to lose 100#, but will start with just one first!!

I know how you feel, I think I have tried just about every diet out there. I think I have always known I need to just learn to eat healthier. But figuring that out among all those commercials and fads is difficult. My husbands Dr. put him on this diet to get his diabetes under control. I read the book and decided my entire family needs this. So we are in this together. I need to lose half of me and im well on my way. I'm in week 3 and loving this. It's not so much a diet as learning how to eat again to become healthy. Good Luck.

Well congrats on wanting to lose some weight. All diets fail, and for sure without exercise. SB is about learning to eat well. All too often we rely on our diet alone to solve our weight problem. South Beach is a wonderful tool to understand how food effects us. It’s a wonderful tool to add to our arsenal. I lost 100lbs, I know all about it. Been there…done that..lol...the key thing is keeping it off, and a diet typically fails at doing that. We get back to our old ways. This is why you need to learn a new way of life. Just make sure you exercise, it’s key to keeping the weight off.

I would suggest that you stop going "on" a diet and instead focus on changing your diet. the ultimate goal is lifelong weight management and control, not simply weight loss. If you continue to go "on" diets and then return to your previous eating habits then you have not solved a single thing. Albert Einstein observed that "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." You seem to be constantly proving this over and over as you go on and off different dietary programs but ignoring the result that when you go back to your previous diet, you gain weight back. Break that cycle, stop dieting, and find a program you can live with for the rest of your life and stay on it. Best wishes!

everything this cat says adds up yes? Now i was lucky and lost 100lbs on atkins but then gained like 30 of it back! I still want to lose maybe 10 pounds or so, but what i want more than anything is to be healthy. this "diet" was meant to maintain a healthy heart, as a side effect most people lost weight.

if your really really concerned with your health, really want to make a change then it will be across the board, you will learn by reading the book how eating foods in certain combination with other foods slow down the Gycemic effect of some harsher carbs. You again will want to exercise, myself I am building up muscle which in turn will need more energy.

Please make sure you read the current South Beach book. Also this forum has alot of info as well.

I like to think my message is relatively consistent and simple.

Thank you for wonderful words and advice. You sure do not look at all like you weighed 100 lbs more....I admire you for it. Very inspiring. Thank you...
