Default Hello from Cindyn50

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here. My name is Cindy and I have recently lost 57 pounds through diet and exercise. Beginning a weight lifting program has totally turned my life around. My husband and I both lost over 50 pounds--and we're intent on KEEPING THOSE POUNDS OFF.

So I bought the South Beach Diet book a couple of weeks ago. It's probably the one diet I've never tried. I've now finished Phase one--and am beginning to intro carbs back into my diet. It's a good feeling. I didn't like not having any carbs because it was difficult to get through my workouts.

So--I'm glad to be here for support and tips and ideas. I'm sure you all have a wealth of knowledge about the South Beach Diet. Thanks for welcoming me.
Cindy N

Welcome and best wishes on your continuing journey!! At it's core, SB is just healthy eating to support a healthy and active lifestyle. And of course, there are lots of good carbs in P1 too in the form of milk/yogurt, beans and lots of veggies, but yeah adding in some allowed starches and fruits in P2 will certainly help your workouts get back on track. We're here to help so ask away when questions come up!

FWIW, I've been in maintenance mode for about 3 years now following the basic SB guidelines and philosophy, so it is indeed possible to take it off (I lost about 40-45 lbs total) and keep it off as long as you keep eating healthy foods and keeping your activity levels at a sufficient level for optimum health, wellness and weight management!

That's great to know that maintenance is successful on this way of eating. I'm near to my goal weight, but am intent on keeping those pounds from creeping back on.

My husband is on phase 1 but hasn't lost any weight in his first week. That's frustrating for him, but he's not too far from his goal weight either. He'd like to drop 10 or so pounds.
