Default Newbie & Ready to get started.......

Hi! My name is Jennifer and I am 26 years old and currently a stay at home mom to 3 kids. I have always struggled with my weight and always seem to be trying a new diet. I have been on/off Atkins for the last year or so and I have not had much success mainly because I am off more than I am on. I am currently a member of the sister website Atkins Diet Bulletin Board and am suprised that they have much MORE traffic on there than what is on here. I have heard good information about South Beach and am wanting to give it a fair shot. I need something that is healthy and doesn't restrict the amount of good food I can eat (ie Atkins 3 cups of veggies per day). I want good food and I don't want to have to worry about counting anything. Sounds like South Beach is perfect for me. So far Day 1 is going really well. Can't wait to start seeing results....Wish me luck!!!

Jennifer - first off, welcome to our forum. I am also a former Atkins dieter who experienced a lot of initial success, but in the end the on/off cycle you mentioned resulted in no success. I am a believer in the Atkins diet, unlike some others; however, it takes a lot of commitment. What I have found with the South Beach Diet is that I enjoy it. I do not see any reason that I could not stick to this forever, which is the only true way for lifelong success. I changed my eating habits last July, and I have never looked back. I wish you the best success. If you have questions, ask away. Usually former Atkins dieters have some preconceived ideas that have to be relearned, but it is nothing you can't get through.

Once again, welcome.
