middle-age and too darn fat; here we go.... Well, I guess it's time to face the music. My wife and I went to the doctor yesterday and she (the doctor) told us that all of our problems are do to high blood pressure, and the high blood pressure is due to our being overweight. We know we aren't living the healthiest of lifestyles, but now that it is becoming painful, it's time to change. Both of the kids are grown and out of the house so we don't have to worry about bad food coming in. I think we can pull this off. We are waiting a few days to finish the food in the pantry and fridge, and this Friday we will take our South Beach Diet grocery list to Piggly Wiggley and get started. It will be hardest on my wife because she is from the Philippines and has eaten at least two cups of white rice everyday of her life; but she has agreed to give it a go. We want to be able to play with the grand kids when we get some. I don't want to wear out my intro, but I do have one question. What's the deal with caffeine? I'm going to have a hard enough time giving up beer and potatoes, do I have to give up the morning cup of coffee also? I take mine black, no creamer or sweetener. I don't think I can take decaf though. Well, I'm sure I will have plenty more qustions. I'm looking forward to finding new recipes and ways to enjoy the football games on Sundays.
