| Greetings fellow South Beachians!! I was hoping someone out there has some suggestions on what I may be doing wrong. I am on day 4 of the diet and I haven't lost a single pound!! I was under the impression that pounds just melted off during the first phase so I was hoping by this time I would have lost something....anything!! Any suggestions??? | ||||||||||

| Most of the weight that people lose in P1 is "water weight" from depleting glycogen stores that releases associated water stored with the glycogen. If you were eating healthily beforehand or don't have much to lose overall, you may not see dramatic results on P1. So in addition to describing specific or even general meal plans, maybe also indicate current height, weight, age, gender and goals. Rather than focusing on total amounts in P1 a more reasonable expectation is 10%-20% of the total you hope to lose. Finally weight loss is neither linear, predictable nor comparable. We all lose in our own ways in our times. The goal of P1 is to lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy eating and to normalize blood sugars to reduce or help eliminate food based hunger pangs and prepare the body for the real weight loss phase which is P2. Any weight lost at all in P1, if there is any, is really just a bonus. I'd consider staying off the scale and focusing on healthy eating for awhile and see how that goes! | |||||||||||

| I do not remember exactly what I have eaten (I am thinking about keeping a food journal) but my usual day is: 2-3 egg whites, 2 pieces of turkey bacon and 1 1/2 pieces provolone cheese for breakfast. broccoli and cauliflower with parmesan and vinaigrette, with a veggie burger topped with salsa and parmesan for lunch. a big salad with topped with some meat (steak, chicken, salmon) for dinner. desserts are usually jello cups or peanut butter. I have almonds and string cheese for snack. I am 26 and have about 80lbs to lose. I am thinking I may be eating too large a portion! | ||||||||||

| Maybe, maybe not. You should be eating a minimum of 4.5 cups of veggies per day though! You can check what you eat against the meal models for P1 which is a sticky topic here in the P1 forum and see where you might need to adjust things. It's a very protein heavy breakfast with no good carbs or veggies for instance and there should only be a single serving of nuts per day. | |||||||||||

| join the club. I'm on Day 8 and have not lost a single pound. I think it just depends on the person. I've been eating pretty much the same as you but a lighter breakfast. It's very discouraging to be working so hard and not seing any results. I'm going to stick it out and hope for the best. Hang in there. drink lots of water and good luck! | ||||||||||
