I would also be frustrated, but I think its pretty common. What are you eating and how much do you have to lose. The experts will come on in the morning and will need more info.

Default A long way to go......

:Sad2: Thanks Lynn, for reading my plea for help...I'm 63 yrs.old and I have 100 lbs. to loose.....I've not had any bread, rice, noodles, etc...or any nono veggies since I started...really no cheating..I limit my deserts to the ones allowed on program...Yesterday, being Sunday, and no lost of pounds, I probably had 4 fudgecyles instead of 2...But that would have been the only time I, knowingly, have gone off program....I really need this program to work for me. Thanks again....

That must be so frustrating for you! :Sympathy:

The list of allowed foods is part of the program. You also must look and see if you are eating too much. Are you following the portion guidelines and only eating until you're no longer hungry? Are you following the meal model and eating your 3 meals, 2 snacks and dessert (if you want it)? Are you getting your "good fats".

I understand how discouraged you must be feeling, Cat.

If you haven't found what the problem is, you might want to post a few days of what you eat. Include details, portions, what you drink, times if you're willing. It can be easy to overlook or miss some important things.

Certain medications for conditions like thyroid and high blood pressure can block initial weight loss. Also, if the fudgcicles have sugar alcohols in them, they can be weight stallers too.

Can you give us a sample menu for a full day, because with 100 pounds to lose, you should at least be losing some water weight during this time.

Maybe we can spot what's going on?

:Welcome:

Post Here's a basic day schedule:

Breakfast:2 eggs scrambled with mushroom,tomato or 2fried eggs/sm/balance
2 slices turkey bacon or 2 CB
1 glass tomato or v8 juice
MidMorning snack: cheese stick or celery w/ff cow wedge

Lunch: sometimes a salad w/tomatos,cucumber,either chicken breast or
some sort of sandwich meat.....
SB Ital. dressing
or SB prepared frozen meal w/salad
always 1 sugar free Jello
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/introduction-forum-just-say-hello/984-first-time-here.html
MidAfternoon snack:
30 Pistachios nuts
Supper: protein, veggies, salad or sliced tomatoes

Snack: Almond Ricotta Creme with ff/sugar free whip or
2 ff/sugar free fudgecycles.
I have 2-3 sugar free green tea drinks during the day....water in morning
One thing that I've been very excited about, I can actually feel hunger coming on when I'm heading home from work...I can also notice when my body needs the snacks...This is good for me, because I'm so use to always being so overfilled that I can't read what my body is telling me...
I'm also taking medication for High Blood pressure & gout.....

Since you don't give details, like portion sizes, ounces, etc. it's hard to tell.
Have you read all the Stickies at the top of the forums?

It's not clear whether you're having the right amount of good oils with each meal.
Dairy?
Eating at least every 3 hours?
I wonder if you're drinking enough fluids.
Maybe you should try cutting out the green tea beverage.
What activity do you do during the day?

You haven't lost even 1 pound?

Well, your breakfast and lunch looks okay, not perfectly by plan, but good enough that you should be losing weight. How much meat are you eating? You should start off with 3 ozs. and only eat more IF you're still hungry.

What kind of portions do you eat at dinner? A great way to get a grasp on portion size is to visualize some everyday objects. Here are a few examples, courtesy of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Quote:
Three ounces of meat is the size of a deck of cards.
Three ounces of grilled fish is the size of your checkbook.
One ounce of cheese is the size of four dice.
One teaspoon of peanut butter equals the tip of your thumb.
A cup of fruit is the size of a baseball.
A medium apple or orange is the size of a tennis ball.
A medium potato is the size of a computer mouse.
An average bagel is the size of a hockey puck.
To make sure you don't overeat, start with one serving at meals, eat slowly, and go back for seconds only if you are still hungry. Remember, it takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to signal your brain that it's full.
You should try to follow this meal model as closely as possible. http://www.sbdbb.com/showthread.php?t=527

One of my problems is grazing in the evenings. I had a hard time with what a normal portion size looked like and knowing when I was truly physically hungry or mentally hungry.

Hunger is the feeling you get when you experience a normal and gradual drop in blood sugar about four or five hours after a meal. It's your body's way of telling you that eating is overdue.

Cravings are what happens within a couple of hours after your last meal. Dr. Agatston says, "They're caused by exaggerated spikes and dips in blood sugar that occur after we eat highly processed carbohydrates like white bread, cake, and white rice. These foods are digested so quickly that they cause an almost immediate rise in blood sugar followed by a rapid dip soon after. It's this drop in blood sugar levels that causes a craving." Eating highly processed foods can actually make you hungry. I can attest to that fact.

As Mindy wrote, some meds will hinder weight loss. What are the green teas sweetened with? I've heard that aspartame hinders weight loss in some people.

Also, I'd like to ask you if this is your first attempt at weight loss. Have you lost weight on other plans in your life? I'd be wondering what's going on with you now that wasn't back then. Do you do any exercising like walking or water areobics? Moving and doing some sort of activity usually helps.

I know it looks like I'm asking a lot of questions. But I just really, really want you to be successful on this program, hon. :Hug1:

One more thought that I had ...... are you sure that your weight scales are working right? I know that might sound silly, but I have seen posts from people who were using broken scales and didn't know it. Did you weight on the same scales both times? Do your clothes feel any looser?
