Default Mary's Trip To The Beach

Ok.. here goes... today is day 1 for me and I'm determined and disgusted with myself! I was preivously following the Curves diet plan since Sept '05 and did great... started at 173 and lowest was 147 for my wedding in February... I've steadily gained and I'm back at 161! I'm just frustrated with myself... so I've turned to SB... I tried SB a couple of times but fell off the first time due to vacation in 2003, the second time due to spending the day at an amusement park in 2004... I just got side tracked and landed flat on my bottom... I want to be thin again....

my menu:
B: 2 scrambled eggs w/green pepper cooked in olive oil, coffee
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/journal-your-way-thin/1073-marys-trip-beach.html
L: 3 shish kabobs (chicken, zucchini, green pepper, onion)
S: veggie bake (zucchini, green pepper, onion, tomatoe, spices, cheddar cheese)
D: tbd (depends on my 12 year old didn't eat while I'm at work :Catfight: )

Going grocery shopping tonight.... time to stock up! This is a great time to start.. my garden is loaded with veggies... the zucchini & peppers are ready.. tomatoes are starting to turn)

Ooooooh, Mary's got a journal! Mary's got a journal! Welcome!

It's a good thing you love veggies because they're an important part of this diet plan. We LOVE fiber, too! :Love3:

And don't you be going off on vacation and forgetting everything we teach you here! Even if you do flub up on a vacation, just dust yourself off and come right back to the beach. This is a plan worth sticking with for the long haul.

I'm keeping my eyes on you!

I see that... you are determined to make this work for me... I'm glad!!!

I do love veggies... and vacation... that will be in 3 weeks... but if I do fall off, I promise to pick myself back up... but I don't plan to fall off!!!

I have feeling that I did one thing wrong today... I had salami & cheese for dinner... is salami aloud? Have to go make some veggies too....

Yikes! :OMG:

LOL j/k

Mary, were you doing Atkins before coming here? Or was it Curves? I don't know that much about Curves. But, with Atkins you're encouraged to eat lots of fat and saturated fat at that. We lower our fat quite a bit on SB and especially try to really limit the saturated fat that comes from meat and it's byproducts. Salami is going to be one of those lunchmeats that has far too much fat in it for it to be SB legal. Also your cheese should be 2% or lower in fat content. Maybe yours already is. Just in case, the guidelines are in the list for phase one.

Just don't worry about the salami if you already ate it. You'll know better next time.

:OMG: mess up #1... I was doing Curves and Curves doesn't give specific guidelines, just eat less than 20 carbs a day and since I did Atkins before, I probably did more of an Atkins type of Curves.... I'm going to read the book AGAIN tonight... I know that alot of it was a blur so I'll read it again... I also bought low-fat turkey... I'll eat that instead...

I did do something good though... I just got back from an hour long walk!! I take my 12 year old son to the park, we take the hiking/bike trails, so it's constantly up and down hills... I'm pooped!!!

That's awesome, Mary. You know that exercise will make things go much faster!

I'm sure there's a sticky around here that tells you how much fat you're allowed. I had a time with that having come off of Atkins. It took me a while to get use to it ....... like looking for lower fat meats and stuff. At least they're not asking us to go totally fat free. Fat free cheese is just gross as far as I'm concerned. But I can use ff sour cream and I don't mind skim milk.

You'll get the hang of it and phase two is nice when you can start having things like brown rice, whole wheat breads, whole grain cereal, old fashioned oats, and fruit. I love all that stuff!

Sounds good Deb!! I've always noticed that we've been close to the same weight... then we both gained together... how ironic!!!
