Hello French!

Welcome to the journals! Have you been eating the same things everyday for 8 days now? If so, aren't you getting bored at all?

This is what your menu should look like, but I'm leaving the foods up to you. Proteins are a meat product, eggs or a low fat cheese. So some mornings you could whip up a tasty veggie omelet with cheese and cooked in some Smart Balance Spread as your fat allowance.

Your snack could be string cheese or some light cream cheese or natural peanut butter spread in a celery stick.

Quote:
BREAKFAST
Protein: Quantity is not limited. Start with a 2 oz. portion, eat slowly, go back for seconds if still hungry.

Vegetables:Minimum 1/2 cup or 6-8 oz. tomato or vegetable juice.

Milk/Dairy:2 cups allowed daily (including yogurt)

Fat:1 tsp mayonnaise, trans-free margarine, or oil (optional)

MID-MORNING SNACK
Snacks are required. Choose a protein, vegetable, fat-free plain yogurt, or nuts/seeds. A snack that combines protein (1 oz.) and vegetables is encouraged.

LUNCH
Protein:
Quantity is not limited. Start with a 3 oz. portion, eat slowly, go back for seconds if still hungry.

Vegetables:Minimum 2 cups.
We encourage you to include a serving of beans (1/3-1/2 cup) as part of your vegetables.

Milk/Dairy: 2 cups allowed daily (including yogurt)

Fat: 1 Tbsp mayonnaise, trans-free margarine or oil, or 2 Tbsp salad dressing

MID-AFTERNOON SNACK
Snacks are required. Choose a protein, vegetable, fat-free plain yogurt, or nuts/seeds. A snack that combines protein (1 oz.) and vegetables is encouraged.

DINNER
Protein:
Quantity is not limited. Start with a 3 oz. portion, eat slowly, go back for seconds if still hungry.

Vegetables: Minimum 2 cups.

DESSERT / EVENING SNACK
Desserts are optional. Enjoy some of your Sweet Treat allowance, a dessert, or any of the snack choices.

SWEET TREATS
Sweet Treats are products that contain sugar alcohols. You can enjoy them throughout the day to satisfy your sweet tooth — just limit yourself to roughly 75-100 calories worth per day to avoid any GI distress.

BEVERAGES
Diet, decaffeinated, sugar-free drinks are not limited. You can enjoy caffeinated coffee or diet sodas with caffeine added, but limit to 1 - 2 servings per day.
You're more than half way through phase 1 now. Soon you'll have lots more food options to enjoy. :joy:

BTW, you're spelling looks just fine! :Hug1: Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you have any. Check out the recipe section of the board. Some of the recipes in the SBD book are pretty good. There's also an additional cookbook that has quick and easy meals in it. I got all my books and things on eBay, my favorite place to shop! :Love3:

Thanks for joining our family!

Hi French, welcome to the journals!

Another dairy you can have is low fat yogurt as part of your 2 cups a day. I love yogurt, I find it's a really great snack (and it's easy!). If you're getting board how about trying different ways to have your meats? You can broil the chicken, or make shishkebobs with veggies, onions and chicken/beef. or do you like fish? it's also a great low fat option. I even like to have omlettes for dinner for a change sometimes. spinach omlettes are great because they help towards your veggies. Sometimes i like to add spinach, light feta cheese and tomatoes for a 'greek' omlette.

Also be sure to check out the 'in the kitchen' forum for different recipes ideas!

I totally understand, French. South Beach works great for me and some of the others, but it might not be the best plan for someone else. Everyone must do what is best for them.

Now with that being said, I hope it works for you and you stick around. I do enjoy your wit and personality so much. :Hug1:

I love you guys! So ready to kick butt!!!!!!!

Don't be discouraged so soon. You did admit to over indulging a bit so it hasn't been a squeaky clean 2 weeks. Hang in there and give the sugar monkey/craving monkey time to get off your back!!!
