Default Condiments

What condiments are becomming staples in your pantry/fridge now that you're on the Beach?

Here's mine:
Heinz 1 carb ketchup (it's very low sugar, made with Splenda)
Cilantro mayo (recipe is in SB diet book and made with low-fat mayo)
Olive oil (of course!!)
Mazola Pure - butter spray (made from Canola oil and actually has taste!)
Pistachio extract, Coconut extract
Dry roasted, wasabi dusted edamame (sprinkle on salads)

I'm sure there's more but that is all I can think of right now. Call for entries!!!!! Share yours please????!!!!!!

  • Curry Powder!
  • Red Pepper Flakes - A must for my pantry
  • Jalepeno Powder - Awesome stuff and smells devine - just don't sniff too hard or you'll sneeze and it will burn, LOL!!
  • Light Coconut Milk - mix with the curry powder on shrimp or mix just the coconut milk and butter spread into mashed cauliflower for awesome faux mashed potatoes

:OMG: you guys! I need to get out more. I have never tried curry.

I like the Heinz low carb catsup.

I've still got some of the Atkins terriaki sauce, but I don't think we'll be able to find that anymore. Does anyone know of a substitute or will I have to make my own?

Carb Options steak sauce and I use to like their barbeque sauce. Can we find that anymore or is it gone? They also had some marrinades that I liked.

Salsa
Horseradish
Mrs. Dash
Seasoned salt
????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/kitchen/214-condiments.html
Hot sauce
Lite soy sauce
Low fat mayo
Red pepper
Chili powder
Mount Olive sf pickle relish
Mount Olive sf sweet pickles

I saved the juice from the pickles and I added some pickling spices. And then I cut onions and green peppers into rings and I slice cucumber chips and put them in the juice. Then I let it sit in the juice for 24 hrs. and it tastes pretty darn good. I even did a boiled egg that way last time.

Oh, and yum, on the pickled banana peppers, too. I even like them on pizza.

I've got all kinds of non stick sprays. They come in olive oil, butter flavored and canola oil.

I like the Smart Balance trans-fat free margarines. I buy the light version. And just recently I bought some Smart Squeeze, which is a pourable Smart Balance. I pour some on my whole wheat bagels in the mornings.

And I have I Can't Believe It's Not Butter pump spray flavoring. I liked that from ages ago. I use to eat it on my popcorn. The label reads zero calories but here's the scoop ......... 12.5 sprays is 10 calories and 1 gram of fat, 25 sprays (1 teaspoon) is 20 calories and 2 grams of fat, and 37.5 sprays is 30 calories and 3 grams of fat. In case you're curious, the entire bottle contains 900 calories and 90 grams of fat! So, when it comes to this stuff, stick with spraying as opposed to pouring.

Here's Mount Olive's web site. http://www.mtolivepickles.com/

They're sweetened with Slpenda, too! I love their sf pickles.

A gift assortment can be ordered, but I don't know if they deliver to Canada. Do look for some when you're in Florida. You won't be disapointed.

I haven't seen any on the east coast aka - Ft. Lauderdale or Miami or West Palm. But check out the Publix and Albertson's grocery stores on the west coast and you might get lucky.

I really miss Carb Options BBQ sauce! Tasted great and had Splenda in it. It was made by Lawry. I can't understand why some manufacturer hasn't made a bbq sauce (or teriyaki or steak sauce) with Splenda yet, and just call it low sugar or sugar-free. So many people are watching their sugar intake and manufacturersthey don't have to align themselves with SB or Atkins diets.....

I can't find carb options here anymore, don't know if its discontinued or the stores just stopped carrying it!

Jalepeno powder sounds awesome! I'll have to look for that! Never seen it!

I love Chipolte pepper sauce as well, on all sorts of things!

P-bird, I may be the only one (and don't tell Heidi LOL) but I really don't care for curry--I can eat it if I have to, but don't go out of my way to have it! I can remember being on the train and in the train stations at 5:30 am and having to smell the curry - they Kiosks in a lot of the train stations in Japan that serve the stuff, the smell used to make me nauseaus at that hour of the day, maybe that's why I don't care for it.

Tee Hee Moggy - Heidi turned me on to the Jalepeno powder. I had never heard of it either. She gets it out west where she lives. The powder has a sweet, smokey, hot flavor and is devine! A little really goes a long way. You could probably buy it online somewhere.

And I'm not sure there's another living being on this planet that loves curry more than Heidi!! I like it but only make curry dishes once in a while!
