Thumbs up Must Have Kitchen Devices

Let's make a list of must - haves for the kitchen!

A good set of sharp knives.

I wouldn't know what to do without my food processor.

What can you add to the list of things that every good kitchen should have?

I have so many! LOL

My George Foreman Grill.

My 3 slow cookers (crock pots)

My FoodSaver (my newest can't live with out appliance!)

Crank style cheese grater. ( no more bloodly knuckles! )

My egg cooker. (perfect hard or soft boiled eggs every single time!)

Cast Iron skillets ( I have 3 sizes )

Toaster Oven (especially in the summer time! don't want to heat up the house)

Microwave (I only use it to reheat leftovers though)

Garlic press

I'll stop, but I have more!

Oh yeah, I have a slow cooker. It's a really old one where the crock part doesn't come out. So it can be a booger to clean. Also, I broke the lid to it and it just so happened that a lid to one of my pans fit it. I'll probably keep on using it until it quits working all together. I don't believe in throwing something away if it's still good. I'm frugal.

I also have a grill, but it's not a George Foreman brand. But, I should get one of those for Tom. We cooked center cut tenderloin pork chops in his oven broiler last night for dinner. Let's just say, I don't care for it. Can't wait to start cooking outside on the gas grill. Well, Tom has a gas grill and I have a small charcoal grill at my house.

I'd like a toaster oven, but I don't know where I'd put it. My kitchen is dinky and tiny .... um, I mean ...... cozy. :jester:

I really, really want your foodsaver!!!

I can't keep any of those things on the counter except for the microwave, I keep them all in a closet in my "office" (aka junk room) and I pull them out when needed. My kitchen is very small too and I have hardly any counter space!

My mom and sis bought me the foodsaver for my b-day. When john and I went out to their cabin a few weeks ago I left them some things in the freezer that I had packaged using it. My dad was so excited about how well it seals that he sent my mom out to buy one for them~!

You would love it p-bird, I even do things like when I'm chopping up onions for something, I'll chop a lot more than I need and then seal the rest in 1/2 to 1 cup packages and throw them in the freezer, it saves so much prep time for meals after work! I can even freeze cooked items for easy meals later, like soups, meat loaf, I have even frozen chicken wings that are already cooked.

You really should treat yourself to a new slow cooker, they are so cheap anymore, you can get a nice one on sale for around 20 bucks! And they last forever!

My measuring spoons and cups - Essential!!!
My mini food processor
Mortar and Pestle - to make really good Greek hummus!
My Gator onion chopper - one hard press and the onion is diced!
My graters - I still get the bloody knuckles and chewed fingernails but really like to use them. Glutton for punishment, I guess! I like to also grate garlic with it instead of mincing, it releases more oils and I grate my parmesan cheese block with it
My Electric carving knife for roasts, turkeys,etc...
My gas bbq grill!!!!!!
My very patina'ed cookie sheet for roasting veggies:happy:
My gallon zip locks for marinating everything!
My mushroom brush

Sing with me -- "These are a few of my favorite things..." LOL!!!

I just got a toaster oven for christmas and i love it! It's great because i work from home so i can use it instead of the oven when cooking just for me. it's great when cooking for two actually as well!

I love my mini food processor too.

my egg poacher

my coffee grinder (for flax, wheat bran, nuts)

digital food scale and adjustable measuring cup (hard to explain lol)

My silicone bakeware.

my hand blender.

My $13 'smothie blender' i got from Walmart in the States. It has a dispenser nozzle, it's great.

I have one of those! I bought it at a Pampered Chef party.

I want silicone bakeware. I just have a hard time spending money on myself anymore. Maybe I could drop a hint to Tom. He probably wouldn't catch it though.

Maybe I should make silicone bakeware a mini goal reward. Say after I lose another 20 pounds I'll buy myself some bakeware! Yeah, that's the ticket! :joy:

I can't live without my coffee pot, LOL
But love my blender,
My slow-cooker
My Forman grill
My Kitchen Aid beater
I also have some awesome knives, some German some Japanese and some from the good old USA

I'm thinking about getting a bread maker now that I can eat bread. Its so discouraging reading bread labels all the time and seeing some form of sugar added. Does anyone make their own health bread??

I tried to but I think my yeast was too old because the bread didn't rise. But, I bought some fresh yeast so I think I'll go try it again. I have a multi grain wheat recipe out of a Dana Carpender cookbook that I'm going to do in the breadmaker.
