Default What Are Your Favorite Cooking Shows?

I love getting ideas from cooking shows. What are your favorites?

I like Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals, though I can find her hard to take at times. I also like her tasty travels show.

Another show I like alot is Easy Entertaining with Michael Chirarello and his Napa Style show too. The food is so rustic.

Everyday Italian is another good one and Lydia's Kitchen on PBS is great!

I used to watch Low Carb N Loving It with George Stella alot too until they moved his time slot to oblivion! Bummer!

What are your favorites?

I like George Stella too, I hardly ever actually get to watch any cooking shows. But I do visit the foodnetwork website to check out who's cooking what and have tried lots of George's recipes from there!

I like Emeril too when I am in the mood and he's cooking something that looks good to me...sometimes that "Bam" stuff gets on my last nerve though, and I don't like any of the spices or sauces that he's selling in the grocery stores...I have tried a few and wasn't impressed.

About the only cooking shows I've watched was Low Carb and Loving It. In fact I use to set the vcr and record his shows to watch later. I'm sure I still have that tape somewhere.

I watched a low carb cooking show on FitTV called Blaines Low Carb Kitchen. I think it's on the verge of being cancelled if it hasn't been already. http://fittv.discovery.com/fansites/blaine/bio.html

I also watched a show called Calorie Comando once. I wonder what would be a good show to get some SB recipes from?

You know, I used to watch Emeril but the BAM business got way too over the top for me. I've heard a few bad things about him too. Like his recipes are put together very sloppily and don't often come out for those who make them. I'm not surprised you don't like his sauces. In his case I think he used to be a really good chef, but commercialism got to him and pushed him over the edge. I think he's out of control!!

Have you ever heard of Anthony Bourdain? He wrote a bestseller called "Kitchen Confidential". It's an insiders view of the cooking industry and tells all the dirt (sometimes literally!). That book is a trip. He also has a foodie travel show on Monday nights on the Travel Channel at 10 pm. The guy is a trip. Goes to exotic places usually and eats exotic things.

There is room for a SB type of cooking show I think. One that combines good whole foods with portion control, low sugars, etc.. I've seen a few "health food" type cooking shows but they always use a ton of fat, as if portions of fat don't matter because it's healthy!

I like Michael Chirarello because you can pretty much take any one of his dishes and make it SB friendly. Just use whole grain breads and splenda in place of the sugars.

True. I look in my old betty Crocker Cookbook and see where I could tweak something here and there and make it SB friendly. But it would still be cool to have a SB cooking show.

I like Rachael Ray also, mostly because I love to eat but cooking all day just doesn't interest me....
I like that Southern Belle also, she cooks comfort foods, but generally they are not re-doable.

Lynne, you mean Paula Deen, I think. She even has her own restaurant down in Savannah, Georgia. (Heart attack on a bun!!!), but man those recipes look really good.

I don't like Barefoot Contessa. Her foods are good but there's just something weird about her. OK so she has money and lives in the Hamptons but I just don't get her.

LOL you konw I watch her show when i can because I do like alot of the recipes she makes (though many are not tweakable), but there's something about her that doesn't sit right with me as well mindy! I think she' kinda smirks alot? I dunno...something i just can't put my finger on really.

I like Paula dean as well, and I also like Nigella lawson, She has a line of kitchen ware that is awesome (though expensive). And I like Jamie Oliver, though alot of what he cooks doesn't appeal to me..he's just so entertaining and cute.

I lost interest in Emeril not long after i first started watching him, the whole BAM bit (and now he's doing it in toothpaste commercials which drives me crazy!), and the 'c'mon it's not rocket science' thing really gets on my nerves. Enough already...
