Default What did you eat on 4th of July???

I am working today. So for me it's kind of just another evening tonight but I am coming home to a swimming pool and bbq with my neighbors coming over. I plan on having a bunless sirloin burger, some mock potato salad (made with cauliflower) and a big green salad. I did make some of that pistachio bark dark chocolate for a treat. YUM :Love3: Oh there are buns for the neighbors and regular potato salad for them!!

What about you guys???

Yeah, what Nancy said!! LOL

I took some diet lean ground beef and threw in some spices and then grilled them up on my itty bitty charcoal grill. I just had enough for three nice sized burgers. No bun for me either, but there will be pickles. lol Then I'm going to throw some zucchini, yellow squash, Vidalia onion, green, red and yellow peppers in a skillet with olive oil and salt and black pepper to sauté. Then I think for dessert I'm going to mix up some red strawberries, blue blueberries and just a dollop of white Cool Whip Free!

Well, it's almost time to heat up the skillet. :joy:

You ladies are doing so well. I did awesome at the start of the day even though I was out of town, I went and worked out in the gym when I woke up did 45 min of cardio and biceps/triceps. I had 1 slice of ww bread and 10 cashews when I got back to the room. Then we all went to lunch around 1 and we went to cheesecake factory, well I had a shrimp/crab salad with no dressing and it was delicious, then my hubby got the Adams PB cup cheesecake and I took probably like 4-5 small bites of it. Well then we went to the Arch and walked around by the river for a few and by the time we ate dinner it was like 9p.m. and we went to a steakhouse and I was starved, I ate 1 1/2 dinner roll then I had shrimp and a few bites of a sweet potato and I was like i think i'll have dessert too so I just had this brownie with icecream and it wasn't even that good but I still ate it, dumb me, but o'well im back on track today (o:

I guess at least I worked out yesterday it could have been alot worse.

Isn't it amazing that if we skip the snacks in between meals we just let loose at dinner? That's what happens to me!!! Eating the snacks between meals is what helps to keep me on track!!

Glad you had a nice trip Brownie!!!:Biker:

Yes you are totally right, I could have controlled myself though why did I give in. I mean I could have been totally satisfied without the bread and dessert but i ate it anyway, that's so dumb.

Just pick up and go on. It's bound to happen when you travel or do anything outside of your normal routine. I ate cake at a party Saturday night and I know better. It wasn't even good cake! But now I'm back on track and have to wait longer to lose weight. That's it.

Ya I know. I'm sure i'll continue to get better and better at making better food choices while traveling. I'm thankful that I know as much as I do now at such an early age.

Taking the hubby to Naples, FL over Labor Day Holiday for 5 days, im definatley going to make sure we go to the store and I have plenty of SB friendly foods while im there as im sure i'll be pretty close to my goal weight by then.

LOL, I cooked my new favorite burger. I got the recipe out of this months Sunset Magazine (Its a west coast mag) and took it to our friends house and they brought those store bought patties which last time I saw were still sitting in the bag. Nasty things
Anyway, its a bit of work, but worth the effort. The recipe said to take two pasilla chilis (those big green fresh ones) and char them over a gas burner. Place them into a bag and let them steam for about 15 minutes in their own heat. Then peel off the skin and chop them up fine. Add this to a 1 1/2 of ground sirloin (I used more cause I had more folks to feed) and then add a cup shredded cheddar cheese, (I used the low fat and didn't have a lot so I added some low fat swiss and something that was about to turn green, Alpine Lacy thing) I mixed this up with a bit of salt and my secret ingredient, a slice of bread soaked in milk. (this last step wasn't in the recipe, but I find that this little bit of bread/milk will keep your burgers tender and delicious even if they get over cooked on the grill. )
For the non-dieters I placed an addition slice of cheese over the burger when it was about done and I had so many compliments.
Someone else brought a spinach salad that was so delicious,,,, it had a few dried cranberries sprinkled over the top. I couldn't find the owner to find out what the dressing was and I think it was suspect Raspberry Vinagrette so I only took a taste. Oh yummm. I am going to have to work on that one.
