Mary, did your doctor tell you to give up the egg yolks? Here are some dietary guidelines from the American heart Association on lowering your cholesterol. http://www.cholesterollowdown.org/ad...iet/index.html
Is he putting you on meds right away or will he give you a chance to try to lower yours on your own with diet and exercise? Mine gave me 6 months and like I said I go next month to get the results. Niacin is also suppose to help lower bad cholesterol, but it gave me a terrible reaction. I had to throw them away. There's suppose to be a timed release kind but I just gave up on it. | |||||||||||

| He gave 3 months last year... I was due back last September but due to lack of insurance, I didn't go back... now that I'm married and on my husbands insurance.. I finally got back there, so I've had a year to bring it down... I've been following LC since September so..... don't think mine is coming down... my dad was the same way, his cholesterol went high in his 30's and never came down... he has many heart problem... don't want to think about that though.... The doctor did not specifically say to cut the yolks but I looked at the National Institute of Health and the TLC diet and it says you should have less that 200mg of cholesterol a day... 1 yolk has 217.77mg... Here's the link: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/publ...l/chol_tlc.pdf | |||||||||||

| But low carb dieting isn't low cholesterol. Low carb, like Atkins, is pretty darn high in fat. South Beach is a good diet for lowering cholesterol. Just my 2 cents. Of course, you and your doctor should work this all out. I'm no doctor ......... but I wish I earned their kind of money! | |||||||||||

| Well, then why throw out your egg yolks? You'll be on meds. Might as well enjoy them. | |||||||||||
