You'll NEVER get rid of me this time! mmoooahahaha (that's my evil laugh) lol

I went for a very FAST walk (not quite a jog) last night and got 2 miles under my belt....better than not working out at all, and my legs are not as sore as I thought they would be! I found some exercises that can be done at your desk too and I'm going to work on those today! (shhh...don't tell the boss..lol)

keep up the good work ... little by little you will go farther and faster without getting sore at all ....

It is amazing how quickly you can build up your heart and speed.

I went from getting out of breath with walking a mile to running 15 miles ...
in about 6 months.

the trick is be consistant ... do it 3-4 times a week and continue to push yourself to the next level.

If you feel tired and sluggish one day ... just get out there and do less ...but get in the habit of getting out there even when you dont 100% feel like it

Also first thing in the Am is the best time for me as there are no excuses yet. after work I ofen feel too tired to work out.

Thoughts?

I like the morning idea. I find myself with about 15 minutes to kill after eating and getting my lunch packed. I usually sit down at the table and drink my coffee while reading up on some day old mail...maybe that would be the perfect time to just take a quick jogwalk? lol (gotta work my way up to just jog) Is 15 minutes enough time? Well duh...it's better than 0 huh? I'm gonna try it tomorrow morning! I have worked out in the morning before and I've noticed it seems to help get my energy level going for the rest of the day as well.

15 minutes is fine ... 20 minutes is better though ...
Getting your heart to a nice rate ( 80 % of max ) and keeping it there for 20 minutes will do wonders.

A heart rate monitor is a great tool for doing aerobic exercise ... it keeps you from doing too much and tiring yourself out and keeps you from doing too little ...

I have a polar one and they basically are the leaders in HRMs

Tom I'm a morning person too but since moving back to the USA I have a hard time motivating myself to do it during the 'winter' monthes

In colder months do you run in the AM or do something 'indoors'

Well treadmill or eliptical for the heavier folks is always good.

I can run until it gets under 40 then it starts getting cold. I dont like to run with big jacket or mittens.

It is still important to keep active during those months though. Maybe take up some outdoor sports or something that keeps you moving for 40 minutes at a good pace.

Maybe do some hiking rather than a jog. Skiiing ?

Ice Skating?
