Exclamation Study: Child obesity expected to soar worldwide

LONDON - The number of overweight children worldwide will increase significantly by the end of the decade, and scientists expect profound impacts on everything from public health care to economies, a study published Monday said.

Nearly half of the children in North and South America will be overweight by 2010, up from what recent studies say is about one-third, according to a report published by the International Journal of Pediatric Obesity.

In the European Union, about 38 percent of all children will be overweight if present trends continue — up from about 25 percent in recent surveys, the study said.

Default Obesity is the symptom not the disease

The problem really lies elsewhere.
Altuism is virtually nonexistent.
Most things are driven by a profit motive.
We hear only what is easy & pleasing.
We ASSUME that if it's for sale it's good for us.
The further we move from a food stuffs original condition the less healthy it becomes.

Labeling is becoming as difficult to read as contacts written in legalesse and we are becoming increasingly functionally illiterate much less capable of interpreting disceptive labels.
Simple questions to ask:
Are there more than 6 ingredients?
Can I pronounce them all?
Do I know what their purpose is and how they are derived?
Would I put them in my mouth if they were isolated on my plate?
Are salts & sugars used to cover up tastes of objectionable adders?

Whole foods, well grown (that's another topic) are the way to go. Both my figure and my health have suffered from not using my mind. The entitlment mentality (I deserve...)advances at a slow creep, unnoticed until the enemy is deep within the camp.
The first thing to go was TV almost two years ago.

Anyway, you've probably caught the drift - we've accepted the conditioning and abdicated many precious things.

Nobody said it would be easy...
