| Low GI eating is not much different than South Beach and thats why we include it here. Veggies - Unlimited. Most vegetables are so low in carbs that they have no measureable effect on our blood sugar levels. They provide fiber, and vitamins and minerals which you just can't get from pills. There are a few exceptions to the unlimited, and that is potato, sweet potato, corn and peas, which should be eaten in moderation. Salad veggies, like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers etc have so little carbs that they can be eaten in generous servings and still have no effect on the blood sugar. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/low-glycemic-index-diet-plans/1310-low-gi-eating.html Cereals and Grains are a big problem for our diets as modern cereal processing methods have transformed them from low-GI carbs to high-GI foods. Make sure your cereal and grains are whole grain cereals and bread. Meat, Nuts and Avocados are allowed.

| I have a diabetic friend who DOES NOT know how to eat correctly! He came over one morning and had a "low sugar" attack (not sure what that's called) anyhow, I ask him when the last time he ate was he said he ate breakfast only a couple of 2 hours ago. I asked him, "Well, what did you eat?" He told me he had a huge bowl of honey nut cheerios. So I explained a bit about GI and how it effects your blood sugar levels. And that Cheerios are probably not the best thing for him to have for breakfast. I showed him the GI food list in the SBD Book and he was amazed at what he saw. Told me he was eating all the high GI stuff....well, he is eating much better these days thanks to that list I showed him. Even non-dieters can benefit from the SBD! | |||||||||||

| Well, I started originally about 3 years ago and lost 100 lbs in about 11 months....then I forgot there was a phase 3 I guess....BAD MISTAKE... gained back about 50, lost 20, quit again for awhile, but now I'm back with more willpower than ever! .... I realized my downfall was going right back to the way I was eating after I had lost my weight....NOT GOOD...best advise?...don't forget phase 3, and never celebrate a weight loss with food!...buy yourself a new outfit instead...it will look much better on you! | |||||||||||
