| Ive a very large amount of weight to lose so Im staying phase 1 longer but have been peeking in 2 to help prepare. The question... I went and bought olive oil as well as bigger bottle of canola but have not used them. I havent opened either. Id like to know how folks use there oil for ideas. Oil has always meant frying in the unhealthiest of ways. With the new foods, Im not sure what to do with it especially with the small amount. | ||||||||||

| Mainly you're just not going to be deep frying everything in oil or have your food swimming in it like we use to. Look at some SB friendly recipes and you'll see what Nancy is talking about. You just use very little. Do you own any of the South Beach cookbooks? If not, I'd highly advise buying one. I think the "Quick And Easy" one with the 30 mintue recipes is a good one to start with. I bought mine from eBay but Amazon.com might have some used ones, also. I'm sure you could get a new one at a book store. If you want to just read it then the library might have it. | |||||||||||

| I have yet to use oil - is it considered optional? Im thinking of sauteeing onions in it to flavor veg because it is a small amount. As a cooking idiot, I know you put the chopped onions in heated oil and cook til browned but this sure sounds like frying. Is it an acceptable use of oil? I do have the newer cookbook with yellow cover and will revisit it. Havent used it because Ive simplified the diet. | ||||||||||
