Default Prebagging / Precooking

While prebagging makes it so easy to grab and run off to work in the morning, it also can be more convenient for cooking.

I'll have stove burners going with a bag of frozen string beans, frozen yellow squash and hard boil eggs. Afterwards to the fridge to cool.

I have a plastic microwave steamer which every dieter should have - I have two (one marked FISH for no cross scent) and got them from a dollar store! During the boiling, I'll put two frozen filets for 3 minutes to defrost. I then season and micro another 3 minutes. I'll repeat this for for another pair of fish filets. Again to the fridge to cool.

After cleaning up, I pull cooled items to baggie the fish (a pie server easily slides it in baggie and cooled its firmer), vegetabes, and eggs for several servings /days. Even if you dont mind cooking, its quick prep for keeping healthy fridge items available.

Great ideas. What are microwave steamers? Where did you find them.

My microwave came with one of those. It's great! But I admit I don't steam anything except rice in it!!

Lynne they are just like steamers you would use on the stove but these are made of hard plastic. The bowl that fits within the bowl that holds water on bottom, has little perferations or holes in it so steam can build up and release out. It's a good invention for microwaves!

The above link has a picture of one.

I also do turkey breast to avoid it getting dry. I hadnt thought of it for rice but thats handy too. My micro rice cooker is on the link below - I vaguely remember it now :jester:.

I like those ideas, Sun! Thanks! We need this thread in the Kitchen forum. Do you mind if we move it there?

ABSOLUTELY AND YOU CAN EDIT THIS AS WELL, Im just discovering the other forums down bottom

One of my big favorites of bagging is no washing or holding onto containers to be returned to home. I was carrying a lot of plastic containers to and from work - now just cheapy disposable bags.
