| Hi, I need some dieting assistance. My dieting history is long. I started WW back in 2000 and stopped in 2003. I started reading about the SBD in 2003 and did that until 2005. I have been going back and forth between the two and can't make up my mind. I like the SB because the results are quick and if i eat something that should be avoided, then i would just go right back to the healthy way of eating. However, now i like eating all types of food but have a problem with the moderation stuff. WW is great too, but i get carried away with thinking about points all day long. Has anyone ever been in this situation? Sorry for the rambling Danielle | ||||||||||

| i went off of SBD bc i started getting bored with the same old foods. I tend to overeat the cool whip amount and went crazy with it. Maybe i should try it again. I exercise 5 times a week for an hour. When i go back to phase 1 i usually will exercise 3 times a week for an hour. But as soon as im in phase 2 ill go back to my normal routine. Does that sound good? Danielle | ||||||||||

Or maybe some of the WW foods you were eating have a high glycemic index & you were craving them. Quote:
Weird, I know, but we gotta do what we gotta do, IMO! BTW, I find that when I eat more processed foods I tend to overeat them alot more. When I eat whole, unprocessed foods, I don't feel like overeating them as much. | ||||||||||

| I think that most people who have ever dieted have felt like they were in a food rut from time to time. That's why I've decided to buy more cookbooks and try a new recipe weekly, at least. I also like to take the allowed foods list and choose a food from it that I've never tried before. Or take some veggies and fix them a different way, like steamed, roasted, sautéed, etc. I had never tried ginger in my cooking before. I still haven't ever tried anything with curry. The next thing I want to try is using coconut as a coating for chicken breasts! I guess I'm trying to say to mix things up a bit. Use your imagination. Your food doesn't have to be boring! I can't handle the Cool Whip either. So, like Nancy, I've decided to skip it all together and not have it in the house. Maybe at a later time when I'm doing better I'll bring it back. I'm giving nuts one more try ..... and if I can't control myself, then it's good bye to those, too. Or I'll try a nut/seed that I'm NOT so nuts about! I did WW about 2 years a go and I absolutely hated doing the points calculating! I found it worse than counting calories! I only lasted about 3 weeks of that. And I don't think they promoted eating healthy whole foods as much as I would have liked. Like another person on the board said, something like their leader didn't even know what high fructose corn syrup is. I bet they don't know what trans fats are either. And another member said that he use to save up his points at the end of the week so that he could eat junk food. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/1110-need-help.html I think we've all heard of this saying, "You are what you eat." Well, I think there is some truth to that. And I really like the fact that SB promotes healthy eating. But I really don't mean to put down WW because it's a good plan that's been around for a long time and has a high success rate. I guess you've just got to do what's right for you. And I don't see why you couldn't combine the two plans if you wanted to. Or am I wrong? Just my 2 cents. Nancy has given you some good advice, too. Yay, Nancy! | |||||||||||

| Thanks for your response! I have been depriving myself of good food. WW didnt really help me eat healthy foods. After having a bad week, I would restart phase 1 again but have difficulty staying on track. So i had a month where one week i would want to stay on SBD but overeat with the ww mindset. So i didnt have fruit or good grains for a whole month. My body took a toll from it. If i do go back to Phase 1 i dont think i can do phase 1 for the whole 2 weeks. But we shall see. | I swear, Danielle, I don't think I can ever go back to phase one again after having been in phase two! I only lasted a week and then I went way off course. I'd suggest staying in phase two, but if you do go back to phase one just do it a few days. :Hug1: | |||||||||||
