Question Question

Are black olives ok on Phase 1, I did not see anything in the book?

Also what about Chili, could I make Chili with turkey burger, red beans and tomato juice or sauce???

Thanks so much I am just trying to think of new things that will keep me and my fiance going on this diet plan.

I would think lean ground turkey and the beans would be fine (if they are kidney beans, they are on the list). Not sure about the olives though - I know they have a pretty high sodium and fat content, but I am honestly not sure. You may want to try a low sodium tomato sauce - I use that instead because between the sodium in all the other ingredients, you aren't likely to notice much of a difference in taste. Let us know how it turns out!

Black olive are just ripened olives and they count as a fat. Here's the guidelines:

Olives (Green or Ripe) 15 = 1/2 TBS oil

The SBD doesn't restrict our sodium intake. So there's no need to be concerned about that unless you've been told to by a doctor. Or if it's your personal preference. Your chili sounds fine as long as the sauce doesn't contain any ADDED sugars in the ingredients list.

You guys are the best.
So Olives would be ok for a snack then??
What if I got the tomato sauce with no sugar added?? What do you think would be a good portion size for a bowl of chili? 1/2 cup?? 1cup??

Sure. Enjoy the olives for a snack.

Tomato sauce with no sugar added would be a good choice.

I usually start with a cup.
