| OK, so i just started Wednesday afternoon (8/2/06) and have TONS of questions. so here goes! Can i have spagetti sauce? I am thinking about making grilled chicken and pouring some spagetti sauce on it to make it like chicken parmesean, just not breaded chicken. Is there any other suggestions for breakfast other than Eggs? I actually just starting eating eggs this year (new years resolution to try new things! I wasnt ever an egg eater... just egg salad sandwiches when i was in the mood) I have had eggs two days in a row and dont think i can keep this up! Does anyone have any quick and easy breakfast ideas? I normally have about 5-10 minutes extra in the morning to make something before work. Will it be bad if i do phase 1 for 10 days... then "fall off" then go back on for the rest of the 4 days... or just jump into phase 2? We are hosting a cocktail party on the 12th for a friends bday party and there will be lots of munchies and margaritas there. What would you suggest? ALL help is much appreciated in this! Feel free to email me at maisweetp@yahoo.com or post here and i will try to check often (i am at work right now!! LOL!) | ||||||||||

You can have anything from the phase one list for breakfast! Who says it has to be traditional breakfast items? Try leftovers from dinner. How about plain lf/sf yogurt with a flavored syrup in it? How about a tofu smoothie flavored with sf syrup or a flavor of powered sf Kool Aid or Crystal Light? Also ,have you tried fixing eggs in different ways? Poached, fried, scrambled, veggie omelet, etc. I'd suggest doing a clean phase one. You can make munchies for yourself that are phase one legal, like raw veggies and a lf dip, some mixed nuts, lf cheese cubes, meat roll ups, etc. And skip the alcohol. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but you asked and that's my suggestion. How successful you are with phase one is an indication of how successful you'll be on phase two. It's only for 2 weeks. | |||||||||||

| Does anyone have a good spaghetti sauce recipe? I am actually not the cook in the house. My boyfriend does most of it, other wise, we eat out. So cooking is a disaster with me! I didnt really think about having a veggie platter with the veggies that are allowed. (im a BIG carrot fan!) i guess i thought, without carrots, its not a veggie platter!! HA HA HA! I just ate some celery for snack. Love those! Thanks for the suggestions. Please feel free to leave more on here! I need some ideas as i dont want to fall off this because i am eating the same things each day. | ||||||||||

| This looks like an easy one. SPAGHETTI SAUCE 1 T. olive oil 1/2 c. chopped onions 1 garlic clove, minced 3 c. tomato sauce (8 oz. can) 1 tsp. dried oregano leaves, crushed 1 tsp. dried basil leaves, crushed 1/4 tsp. sugar substitute like Splenda 1/8 tsp. pepper (optional) In medium skillet, brown the onion and garlic in the olive oil. Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. BTW, veggie platters can have cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber slices, celery, radishes, sliced jicama, all varieties of peppers, snow peas, etc. | |||||||||||

| I use a tomato sauce that is very low in sugar and has good ingredients in it but it is very expensive so I only buy it once in a while. It's called RAO's Marinara. The other varieties are too high in fat and sugar but this one is just right -- except for the high price. It's like $8 a bottle! That's why I only buy it once in a while. Nothing tastes fresher and better than home made though! I'm with Luv. Do a clean Phase one. And as far as breakfast, you can grill up a few slices of good lunchmeat ham that is low sugar. Or canadian bacon is good. Also have you tried mock danish? That's an egg in the microwave with 1 TBSPN of low fat cream cheese and a packet of splenda. Tastes like a danish. :sun: | ||||||||||

| Thank you for the recipe! I will try that tomorrow! We are BIG "eat out" people as our schedules are totally rough! So thats usually what we do a lot unless my boyfriend can cook something up fast. We are also into BBQ'ing, which means, LOTS of marinades and corn! The only problem about me not completing the full 14 days of phase one is the party we are hosting at our house nesxt Saturday. Then the next weekend i have a wedding to go to out of state. There is a very SLIM chance that I will not drink as I am the host of the party and its been in the planning for over a month! Has anyone ever done phase 1 for only 10 days then jumped to phase 2? I am thinking about just finishing off the rest of the 4 days starting on Sunday, or even starting all over... would that be bad? | ||||||||||

| Phase one is to detox, level out your blood sugar and get over your cravings. The problem with doing a ten day phase one and then having your party with the non-legal munchies and the alcohol is that you're going to be messing with your blood sugar levels and cravings could return. Plus, you're going to see a gain on the scales afterward. Much of that could be water weight and will come back off fairly quickly. The SBD is all about making wise choices for yourself. This isn't a quick fix. It should be a commitment to lifelong healthy eating and long lasting weight loss. This diet works best if you follow the guidelines by the book. So, with all that in mind, it's up to YOU whether or not you do a 10 day phase one and then go off and then jump into phase 2. If you find yourself with cravings for non allowed foods after your party, go and finish up phase one, but it's not recommended to stay in phase one longer than 2 weeks if you've only got 20 pounds to lose and don't have any cravings for sugar or junk food. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/1124-tons-questions-i-mean-tons.html I hope this helps. :Hug1: | |||||||||||
