Default Tequila??

I read on the Jose Cuervo website that tequila doesnt have sugar or carbs and is 69 calories per 1oz serving (half a shot) . Is that ok to mix with Crystal lite? diet soda? Sprite Zero?

We are hosting that party on Saturday which would be my 10th day on SB, and wanted to see if i could have that. I have one glass of crystal lite a day since water gets so boring! I discovered the Sprite zero that has no cals, no carbs and no sugar. People at my job drink it all the time and said that it still does taste like Sprite.

What is your imput on this one?

Go ahead and enjoy a drink! Any sugar free mixer that you mentioned is fine.

Oh goodie! I will make some of that this weekend. There will be a couple of other people that are dieting (not on SB) but they are watching sugar intake.

I will leave the margarita mix out on the counters for those that are not dieting! I already made my grocery list for the snacks for the party. Veggies (minus carrots), peanuts, almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds. Someone else is bringing a pot of beans. I think i will make some pinto beans too. I will probably make that chili that i got the recipe of from here. Its a bday party for a good friend of mine, so someone is bringing cake, but at that moment, i will have one of my SF popsicles/fudgsicles! I am actually starting to like those!

I am new to this diet, and I realize its not a low-carb diet per se. But having experience with the Atkins approach, where ketosis (when the body burns fat for energy instead of carbs) is a focus- I was told that although pure distilled liquor (i.e. bourbon, scotch, vodka, gin, rum, tequila) has no carbs it was still to be limited. WHY? This link describes the reason quite well I think :

http://www.foutz.net/health/archives...your_win.shtml

"Just an aside, and a very important one at that. All of these carb counts describe what the drink in the glass contains. These numbers do not tell you what happens to that alcohol once it enters your body. I will describe this latter process fully in a subsequent post, but for now suffice it to say that alcohol immediately turns to sugar in your blood. Thus although you might think that 10 shots of gin amounts to a mere zero carbs, you would be sorely mistaken, wondering why your weight ballooned up during the next two days despite adherence to a low carb diet. (You'd probably also be wondering why you woke up the next morning wearing a pineapple for a hat!) This is a sad fact you cannot get around. Alcohol, despite the carbs present in its original beverage, is converted by your body into sugars which act the same as if you ingested a big fat twinkie. You can think of these various beverage carb counts as the variety of "wrappers" you can get for your zero carb alcohol. In fact, the alcohol itself doesn't actually show up in the counts (as you can tell from the pure distilled liquor counts of "zero"), but once inside your body, that zero carb alcohol is radically transformed into a completely different reality. Pretty sneaky, eh?"

Sorry to put the kabosh on your night out with the guys/gals, but better you should know.

I would love to have a scotch or two but would like to know its not just a loophole in the rules and that there isn't going to be an impact on my progress... reading the above link seems to indicate that you shouldn't be drinking alchohol - especially during phase 1, at all.

'For phase 1 there is no exceptions. I believe you are not to have the fudge pops yet. You are far better to purge your body of all sugars, even the s/f percieved ones. I know for me that it would start a craving. Phase 1 is limited to detox your body and it is not fun but it does work so well to get you ready for phase 2. You will be glad to get the limited, approved carbs in moderation in phase 2 if you adhere to phase 1. \r\nI would say skip it since you are in the phase you are in.'

Default Fudge pops

'In your message you mentioned something about not being allowed \"fudgie pops\" on phase one, but if I\'m not mistaken, sugar-free popsicles and fudgsicles are among the \"sweet treats\" allowed on phase one.'
