do you like fish, tuna, salmon? how about turkey chili? how about a stir fry?

there's tons of ideas besides eggs, salad, lunchmeat and chicken...lol

Sounds like your in a blah stage and ready to give up....I hope you stick with it...the first stage is the hardest! We can do this together!..Stick around...PLEASE!!!.....YES, the first week is totally BORING!!!...it does get better I promise...it's not that bad after 3 or 4 days...and if you make it through this, you will sail through phase 2 with ease....hang in there my friend...

I wanted to ask you something though....you said.. "I want the food I'm eating to be satisfying emotionally" I'm not sure what you mean by 'satisfying emotionally'...is eating seriously what makes you happy?...do you use food as a 'feel good tool?'....think about what you said...if food actually did make you 'emotionally happy', then why are you here?...you must not be 'happy' right?...something has to change there....

When I started this diet...I pretty much lived to eat...I LOVED FOOD....LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!...couldn't wait to get home and cook a meal so I could eat, or looked forward to getting out of work so we could go 'out to eat'...seriously....the highlight of my day was finding the best 'lunch special' in town...loved any opportunity to get together and eat with friends & family...now it's more about the family & friends and less about the food....eating is now more of a necessity instead of the entire 'center' of my life. I control my diet, it does not control me....I eat because I have to, not to make myself happy...I've managed to get rid of that 'emotional eating' mentality and let me tell you...those late night 'mindless eating' binges are a total thing of the past. Am I making any sense here?....you can tell me to shut up if I seem to be rambeling or if I'm way off....but do you see where I'm coming from here?

so happy! i have been thinking about chocolate the first three days of phase one but didn't get the full on CRAVING until day four pm. the choc fudge pops hit the spot! yes i had two. i logged them on my food diary this morning at FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and was very happy to see that two sugarfree fudge pops counts as one serving (at least in their eyes).

    Default Back on the Beach

First I just want to say I think this forum is great and the people who post here really make a difference. I think If I had this forum the first Time I tried SBD I wouldnt have fell off.

Im now a sophmore in college and coming back the the beach. Ive always been "thick" and Now Ive racked up enough resolve for five people and am determined to beat this love affair with food wont take over my life while I stress in school. Im not super over weight but it runs in both sides of my family and I see my future if I dont make a change. Im 19 now but even some of my cousins a few years older then me are starting to turn into aunts and uncles and I want to be proactive about this... its day 2 for me and my cravings for pancakes hit me hard lol.. of all things.

Despite the head aches and that grody empty feeling of not being "full" its the darn pancakes out of reach. But I keep the image of the beach body this summer in my head... and an ever growing stack of interesting recipies by my side. Im wonder though (hopefully this thread stays alive) what kinds of creative things can one do about sweetners. Ive been looking into the artificial stuff but studies are showing aspartame is actually bad for you which is in most of it.. and that stevia stuff tastes HORRID.... any other alternative to soothe that sweet tooth with OUT cheating? ( that wont have my tastebuds running for the hills?)

Default You would think I would get it. . .

I am an addictions counselor, you would think I would recognize my own food addiction. . . I had to leave a fasting test with the Dr this morning so I did not start till midmorning snack, I had celery and laughing cow cheese, for lunch I had a chef salad with two oz of cheese, two oz of turkey and one tablespoon of balsamic vinegar. Im already looking forward to my afternoon snack.

I personaly think finding some way to fill my time will be the biggest chalange of phase one, I eat when I am bored. I used to be so busy with school and work. School ended last March and I have been working 4x10's for the last 6 months, Friday, Saturday and Sunday it feels like all I do is sit at home, watch tv and eat. What do those of you who dont have kids do to fill your time?

Default Is carbonated water ok in P1?

Hi, I just started SB today. For breakfast I had the spinach quiche, a.m. snack was a piece of cheese, lunch was a salad with low fat cheese and chicken breast, p.m. snack was pecan halves, dinner was the peppered steak (got the recipe from the book) and roasted veggies (also got the recipe from the book)....

Throughout the day, I've had carbonated water... the fruit flavored kind you get from WalMart. Is that acceptable, or should I start over tomorrow?

The nutrition lable shows 0 on everything, so I figured it would be okay. I hope I'm right, but PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!

    Thanks!

    Exclamation

Sugar free fruit pops. You can get them at walmart for like 3$ for a package of 24. They work great! I have the SB book and it says that for phase 1 and no sugar added fudge pops.

Sounds good to me. do yourself a favor and dont use the scale so much. phase 1 is more about losing cravings than weight, although most people do lose some weight. this is a lifestyle change so dont get discouraged if you dont lose the weight right away, remember it took years to get to this point so if it takes a bit to lose then so be it.
