| Ok, here is your thread for the start of the first week of phase one. Right now I am so sleepy I can barely see. So please forgive me if I just start this thread and go to bed. I've been up for over 24 hours. I felt fine until about half an hour a go and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. We'll talk tomorrow. | |||||||||||

![]() ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/south-beach-diet-forums-phase-1/1644-phase-one-check-week-one.html Oh boy! I get to make the first food posting! I didn't get up until past nine a.m. and with a headache I might add. But it's all gone now and I'm ready to get the ball on the roll. Breakfast: 1 reg. egg and 1 Egg Beater's egg omelette w/ onion, green pepper and an ounce of 2% cheddar cheese (cooked in non-stick spray) 1 small sliced tomato 2 cups coffee w/ sweetener and 2 T. sugar free creamer Then I went out and mowed the yard. ![]() I missed my mid-morning snack, but I didn't get hungry and I guess it didn't mess up my blood sugar since I ate breakfast so late anyway. Lunch: 1 Bocca veggie burger patty (2.5 ozs.) covered w/ low fat mild cheddar cheese 1/2 c. homemade sweet pickles (sugar free) 3/4 c. black beans :Love3: 1 small sliced tomato That's it so far! How's everyone else's day going? I'll be back later on with dinner stats. | |||||||||||

| Yesterday was a mess! I drove for almost an hour and forgot the address and phone number of the place I was suppose to be. I thought I knew, but I was obviously wrong since they didn't know what the heck I was there for. It's all my fault, too. Anyway, I didn't get to eat until I was in my car and headed back home. I had grabbed an Atkins bar on the way out the door and a bottle of water. I was famished! Lunch: 3.5 oz. grilled steak 1 tomato 1/2 c. black beans 2 c. coffee w/ sweetener and Coffee Mate Mid-afternoon snack: 1 oz. peanuts Dinner: 3 ozs. shrimp 1 c. stir fry veggies w/ some water chestnuts sf sweet and sour sauce diet Coke Zero Dessert: 2 pieces sf candy Now, since this is a phase thread for newbies, I want to say a few things here. No one expects you to be perfect. Even Dr. Agatson, when he wrote the book, expected perfection from those of us following the plan. I didn't do everything exactly correct yesterday. I might not do everything correctly in the future. But, I think I made only minor mistakes. This is not meant to be a strict, riggid plan. It's a new way of eating for life. And sometimes life comes at you and you have to adapt. I take personal responsibility for my mistakes. If I make too many and I am not losing weight then it's my fault and not that the diet didn't work. The diet will work. But YOU have to put the effort in for it to happen. So, my mistakes were the Atkins bar, which isn't really one of the foods to enjoy on this plan. I also couldn't eat at the right times to keep my blood sugar level. And the Coffee Mate is not really on the list, even though I buy the kind that's sugar free. I just can't enjoy my coffee without it, but I will work on that as time goes along. Thankd for reading all of this. Sorry if it was too long. I just wanted to clarify a few things. I shall check in later with today's foods. Since I work midnights it's a little confusing, even for me. | |||||||||||

| Good morning all! Good morning Luv! Oh thanks. Good morning back to you! ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1644 I talk to myself all the time. Sometimes I even answer myself. Yesterday, my food was a low fat mock danish for breakfast and 3 slices of Canadian bacon. Of course coffee. I had to get my veggies in and drank a small glass of V-8. A big chef salad for lunch and then I went to bed. When I got up I had an sf/lf ice cream bar as a late dessert. Nothing much exciting. The mock danish was something different. I used the recipe from the Atkins site and modified it by using a lower fat cream cheese in the center. I used the amount of egg to equal 2 w/ 1 reg. and Egg Beaters. I used 1 packet of sweetener and some vanilla and 3 t. of ground flax seeds. Poured it into a dish sprayed with Pam and nuked it for about two minutes. Yummy! :Love3: OK, now, last night I had pretty much the same thing as the night before. I took a cup of plain ff yogurt and flavored it with sf syrup. Plus the almonds and a small portion of jerky and one mini sf candy. BBL and enter the rest of my food. Got my coffee but still need to cook some breakfast. | |||||||||||

| Breakfast: 2 ozs. turkey sausage 2 eggs over easy in Pam w/ canola oil 1 sm. glass V-8 juice Mid-morning snack: 1 oz. peanuts Went to bed for a couple of hours. Dinner: 3 c. hearts of romaine salad leaves ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1644 1 can tuna in water 1 oz. low fat cheese 3 t. sf pickle relish 1 slice onion 2T. ff salad dressing 1 diet coke I'll probably have a sf/ff ice cream for dessert later. And before I go to work I might have a hot coca made with light soy milk, cocoa powder and sweetener. I'll probably cook some more interesting stuff this week end. I just get tired and lazy with my cooking during the week and I try to make it easy stuff. I might make a faux pizza suitable for phase one. A 3x3 cooking challenge is starting soon. Think about signing up for it. It's a lot of fun. | |||||||||||

| I'm so happy it's Saturday! This is the last day of week one. I have done very well with my eating and controlling my tendencies to binge eat. I know that I haven't been perfect, but I don't think this diet is about being totally perfect 100% of the time. I still can't find my book, but I think this is a plan a person can live with. Nobody wants to live by such strict rules all the time. No one wants to have to worry about what they're putting in their mouth forever. This plan can teach you a way of life to be healthy and thinner. All is not lost if you eat a piece of cake at your wedding or a birthday party. You just pick up and get back on track at the next meal. ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1644 Last night I ate the usual stuff I've been having most nights this week except I had cashews instead of almonds and I brought an ounce of 2% cheese instead of yogurt. Breakfast: 3 slices Canadian ham 2 eggs cooked in 1.t Smart Balance coffee w/ sweetener, caramel flavored Di Vinci sf syrup and Coffee Mate 6 ozs. V-8 I got busy doing stuff and time got away from me. I find that I hardly ever get hungry. So, before I knew it lunchtime was here. Didn't get my snack in. Lunch: 4 oz. grilled round steak 3/4 c. cauliflower w/ 1t. Smart Balance 2 c. salad fixin's w/ dressing (didn't measure) 1 green pepper ring sm. amount of cucumber some sliced black olives 1 oz. lf cheese diet coke I am still stuffed and it's 4 p.m. I definitely don't need my mid-afternoon snack. I'll be back later, after I finish watching "Dreamgirls". It's a pretty good movie so far and the music has been outstanding. | |||||||||||

| Dinner: 2 c. salad w/ lf cheese, sunflower seeds and a homemade vinaigrette dressing 1 2x2 in. square of pizza w/ lf cheese, black olives, Canadian bacon, spaghetti sauce, eggs, garlic, mushrooms, spices and lf cream cheese Dessert: ????: South Beach Diet Forums http://www.southbeachdietbulletinboard.com/showthread.php?t=1644 1 lf/sf ice cream bar This pizza was totally legal for phase one because it doesn't have a crust in the traditional sense. I actually found the basic recipe on the Atkins web site and lowered the fat content. Once you make the flour-less crust you can put any other pizza fixings on it that you wish. You could even put tomato slices on it instead of sauce. Tonight was the first time I'd ever had sunflower seeds in my salad. It was pretty good for a change but probably won't become a regular thing. I've been looking at recipes that I'm going to use for the new 3x3 challenge that's coming up. I've already got 2 that sound like they'll be really good. One more week of phase one! I can't wait to have something different for breakfast besides meat and eggs. I think I'll try oatmeal the first day of phase 2. Bye! | |||||||||||
